Publication number: 20140160820Abstract: An electrical current transformer for installation upon a power distribution line including a generally annular, split core and a secondary winding. The secondary winding includes a first winding portion, wound with a first winding polarity about the split core, and a second winding portion, wound with a second, opposite winding polarity about the split core, and a tap. The transformer further includes first and second rectifiers, electrically connecting a tap output to terminals of the first and second winding portion opposite the tap, respectively, and a tap control for controlling the tap output, where the tap is both electrically connectable to the output to provide an additive connection and electrically isolatable from the output to cause a subtractive connection. The tap control controls the tap output in response to a condition sensed in the powered circuit. Self-cancellation may be achieved by using windings having an equal number of turns.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2012Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicant: Grid Sentry LLCInventor: Michael Wayne McKinley

Publication number: 20130342188Abstract: A disassociated split sensor coil manufactured from hemi-toroidal cores. Each core includes a surface channel extending from end to end, with wire sections being wound about the core to form a helical sensor coil electrically connected to a connecting wire returned through the surface channel. The connecting wires are interconnected to form a continuous electrical path, with terminal wires being electrically connectable to a monitoring circuit. Also, a method of manufacturing including obtaining a hemi-toroidal core having a surface channel, placing a first length of a wire within the surface channel so as to extend from end to end, winding a second length of the wire so as to form a helical coil section extending from end to end, providing a third length of the wire extending from one end, and repeating the steps to form a disassociated split sensor coil electrically connectable by joining the first lengths of wire.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2012Publication date: December 26, 2013Applicant: GRID SENTRY LLCInventor: Michael Wayne McKinley

Patent number: 8493699Abstract: In one embodiment, a system includes a cable comprising a plurality of leads and an ESD dissipating adhesive coupled to the plurality of leads in a coverage area for providing ESD protection to an element of an electronic device. The ESD adhesive comprises a mixture of a polymeric thin film and electrically conductive fillers dispersed in the film, and the ESD adhesive has a resistivity from about 50 to 100 M?. In another embodiment, a method for providing ESD protection to an element of an electronic device includes applying an ESD adhesive across exposed leads of a cable and evaporating the solvent from the ESD adhesive. At least some of the leads are coupled to an element of an electronic device. The ESD adhesive comprises a polymeric thin film, electrically conductive fillers dispersed in the polymeric thin film, and a solvent for controlling a viscosity of the ESD adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2010Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: William T. Publication number: 20120042905Abstract: Methods for preparing for analysis of surface contamination of magnetic tape, in one embodiment, submerses and passes a continuing length of the magnetic tape through a covered water bath; and subsequent to the submersing step, wipes the continuing length of the magnetic tape while covered. The preparation is conducted, in one embodiment, with a covered enclosure configured to enclose a water bath to a level at least submersing guide(s) and a continuing length of the magnetic tape passed by the guide(s). A wiping arrangement is configured to wipe the continuing length of magnetic tape subsequent to the submersion in the water bath. Further, the covered enclosure comprises openings therein to pass the continuing length of magnetic tape.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2010Publication date: February 23, 2012Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: DYLAN J.
