  • Patent number: 7121023
Abstract: A rotatable connector pin assembly is disposed within an opening in an adapter nose, with opposite ends of the pin portion of the assembly extending outwardly beyond opposite sides of the adapter nose in axially fixed orientations relative thereto, and is used to captively and releasably retain a replaceable excavating tooth point on the nose. The configuration of the opposite pin ends permits the overall pin assembly to remain in the adapter nose during removal of the point and replacement thereof, with the pin being rotatable between a first orientation in which its ends permit removal of a point from the nose, or installation of a point on the nose, and a second orientation in which the opposite pin ends block removal of the point from the adapter nose.

  • Patent number: 6393739
Abstract: An elongated excavating tooth assembly includes a replaceable tooth point and an adapter structure comprising (1) an intermediate adapter having a front end nose complementarily received in a rear end pocket of the point and captively retained therein by a first connector pin structure, and (2) a main adapter having a front end nose complementarily received in a rear end pocket of the intermediate adapter and captively retained therein by a second connector pin structure, and a rear end operatively securable to an excavating bucket lip. Special configurations of the point and adapter portions of the assembly, including horizontally elongated oval configurations of the noses, horizontal orientation of the connector pins, nose stabilization bosses at the nose connector openings, and complementarily scalloped adapter and point interface areas, provide the assembly with reduced size and improved strength, wear and operational characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6379075
Abstract: A specially designed quick coupler is representatively used to removably attach an excavation bucket to the outer boom end of an excavator. A top portion of the quick coupler is pinned to the outer boom end and has a bottom portion with spaced apart recesses configured to releasably receive portions of stick and curl pins on the bucket. An arcuate latch hook is translationally drivable by a hydraulic cylinder assembly toward one of the implement pins to releasably lock it in its associated coupler recess in a manner also captively retaining the other implement pin in its associated coupler recess. Stop structures oppose the latch hook and, using a simple shim arrangement, may be translationally shifted toward and away therefrom to easily adjust the coupler for wear and/or changes in the implement pin spacing. A redundant safety system is incorporated in the coupler and serves to hold the latch hook in its locking position.

  • Patent number: 5943239
Abstract: A sawing system is provided having a material conveyor for moving lengths of wood stock through the sawing system. According to one aspect of the invention, the material conveyor is preferably inclined upward from a frontal loading end to facilitate the loading of wood stock. The material conveyor is also preferably adjustable to accommodate different lengths of wood stock. According to another aspect of the invention, the sawing system has at least first and second power saws on one side of the material conveyor and at least third and fourth power saws on the opposite side of the material conveyor. Each of the four power saws is supported for independent angular movement of its saw blade about a pivot axis that is offset from the plane of the saw blade and parallel to the direction of the movement of the lengths of wood stock on the material conveyor. At least one of the first and second power saws is supported for horizontal movement relative to the material conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5933958
Abstract: A gantry press adjustment apparatus for vertically adjusting a parallel gantry press (10) with respect to a work surface (77). The gantry press has a rigid frame with a first side frame portion (12) and a second side frame portion (14), and a press roller (16) mounted therebetween. Each side frame portion has first and second generally parallel vertical members (28, 30). The adjustment apparatus has first and second planar members (40) which are adapted to receive and support the axle (60) of the press roller. The planar members are slidably mounted along a vertical axis of the frame portions. First vertical adjustment members (100, 200) are connected to the first side frame portion and to the first planar member, and second vertical adjustment members (300, 400) are connected to the second side frame portion and to the second planar member. A drive (134) is connected with each of the adjustment members to adjust each member at a substantially equivalent rate.

  • Patent number: 5901480
Abstract: An earthworking loader bucket has a specially designed bottom side reinforcement structure which includes a unitary base plate member extending rearwardly from the bottom side front bucket lip and having a front side edge welded to the rear side edge of the lip. Slots are formed in the rear side edge of the base plate and receive bottom end portions of plate-shaped lifting and tilt ears transversely welded to the curved rear side wall of the bucket. Closeout plates are interposed between the bucket rear side wall and rear side portions of the base plate, and the bottom end portions of the ears are welded to the base plate. A spaced plurality of elongated ear extension members longitudinally extend forwardly from the ear member bottom end portions and along adjacent bottom side portions of the base plate and lip, with the extension members being welded to the ear member bottom end portions, the base plate and the lip.

  • Patent number: 5676358
Abstract: An improved table for use in a truss assembly apparatus is provided. The improved table includes a frame supporting a plurality of panels that define a work surface. According to a first aspect, the plurality of panels are separated by at least one opening extending across the table. Mountings are provided for rotationally mounting a lead screw across the table along the opening between the panels. At least one jig stop carrier is threadedly coupled to the lead screw and movable along the lead screw in the opening between the panels across the table in response to rotation of the lead screw. A jig stop is connected to the jig stop carrier and to project above the work surface of the table. To vertically adjust the height of the jig stop mounted to the jig stop carrier, which is coupled to the lead screw, at least one threaded shank is fixed on each of the mountings. The threaded shank extends through an aperture in the frame of the table to selectively position the mountings on the frame.
