    Abstract: An HVAC volume correction controller for a building's HVAC system, and an associated method, for dynamically modulating the volumetric airflow rate entering the building to account for the thermal expansion of air through a blow through heat exchanger. The HVAC volume correction controller: (i) calculates a temperature differential between an air discharge temperature and an air intake temperature; (ii) calculates a volume correction factor, taking into account the thermal expansion coefficient of air and the temperature differential; and (iii) modifies a blower motor speed of the blow through heat exchanger. The HVAC volume correction controller can be retrofitted on existing HVAC systems, or can be integrated with a blow through heat exchanger for new installations.

    Abstract: This application relates to a hygienic clamp with a non-contact sensor. The clamp may also include a first clamp arm, a second clamp arm, and a hinge to movably join the first clamp arm and the second clamp arm. The non-contact sensor can sense whether the clamp is closed by detecting the proximity of one arm of the clamp to its other arm, without requiring the two arms to contact one another. Since the non-contact sensor is not mechanical, no mechanical wear is produced. It is constructed to prevent build-up that can occur with other types of sensors in industries that use clamps in their applications.

The method includes repeating an alternating acquisition of sample fluidic plugs each having an incremental volume of sample and diluent fluidic plugs each having an incremental volume of diluent to obtain a stack of alternating sample and diluent fluidic plugs. The stack is inserted into a flow of a mobile phase in a chromatography system. Alternatively, the method includes repeating the steps of injecting an incremental volume of sample into a chromatographic system flow and providing an incremental volume of mobile phase into the chromatographic system flow. In either implementation, the dilution ratio of the sample equals the sum of the incremental volumes of the sample and the diluent or mobile phase divided by the sum of the incremental volumes of the sample.
