Patent number: 9426853Abstract: In a first aspect, the invention provides an LED converter, comprising: a resonant converter with a switching regulator, preferably a clocked half-bridge converter, a galvanic barrier, the primary side of which being supplied by the switching regulator and the secondary side of which being arranged for providing directly or indirectly power to terminals for connecting one or more LEDs, a control circuit on the primary side of the galvanic barrier of the resonant converter, a sensing means on the secondary side of the galvanic barrier sensing a secondary side electric parameter indicative of an LED load, when connected to said terminals, a feedback path from the sensing means to the control circuit adapted to feedback the secondary side electric parameter from the secondary side of the galvanic barrier to the primary side of the galvanic barrier, wherein in case no LED string is connected to the LED converter, the control unit is adapted to cyclically control a switching frequency of switching regulator switchType: GrantFiled: December 19, 2013Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: TRIDONIC GMBH & CO KGInventors: Wayne Bell, Paul Dalby, Deepak Makwana

Patent number: 9362817Abstract: A power factor correction circuit includes an inductor L1, a diode D1, a switch Q3 and a controller 24. An input voltage Vin is applied to the inductor L1 which is cyclically discharged through the diode D1 by the operation of the switch Q3. The switch Q3 is controlled by the controller 24 which varies the on period of the switch Q3, during which the inductor is charged, for adjusting an output voltage Vbus towards a target value Vbus_target. The method includes obtaining an indication of the inductor L1 reaching a discharged state in response to the switch being in an off state. The controller 24 monitors at least one of the switch on period Ton and the switch off period Toff to identify when the input voltage Vin is an alternating voltage AC input, and when it is likely to be a non-alternating voltage DC input. When a non alternating voltage is detected, steps may be taken to reduce interference.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2012Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: TRIDONIC GMBH & CO KGInventors: Jamie Kelly, Deepak Makwana, Kevin McDermott, Paul Dalby, Wayne Bell

Patent number: 5082292Abstract: A broadhead (10) has deployable cutting blades (24 and 26) which are cammed open from slots (20 and 22) in a cylindrical body (14) as plunger (12) impacts against a game animal. The cutting blades (24 and 26) are connected by pivot pins (32 and 34) to the plunger (12). The cutting blades (24 and 26) are pivotable when the broadhead (10) is in an open position from the open, cutting configuration which causes maximum hemorrhaging to a non-barbed configuration which complies with various state gaming laws. A tubular restraint (11) serves to hold the cutting blades (24 and 26) within their respective slots (20 and 22) during the flight of the arrow. The cylindrical body (14) is threadably (60) connected to a cap (28) and the body (14) and cap (28) include matching tapered sections (64 and 66, respectively) which allow for improved sliding of the plunger (12) through the body (14). A pin (44) has been provided as a camming surface for lower blades (26) to improve the manufacturability of the broadhead (10).Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1991Date of Patent: January 21, 1992Assignee: Pucketts Bloodtrailer BroadheadInventors: Riley Puckett, Wayne Bell
