    Abstract: Methods and systems for live recording of video on a set-top box of a cable television system include receiving a video signal on a first channel of the set-top box. The set-top box does not include a hard disk drive. Video is displayed on a television corresponding to the video signal. The video signal received on the first channel is recorded in a buffer memory in the set-top box. The display of video on the television is then paused, the video signal being recorded in the buffer memory when the display of video is paused. The display of video on the television is then resumed, the display of the video on the television being resumed from the point at which the display of the video was paused.
