  • Publication number: 20210247453
Abstract: Some battery chemistries, such as “advanced carbon” battery chemistries may have improved battery health if maintained with longer intervals between “full” recharge. Accordingly, methods, systems, and devices are provided in which a state of charge of a battery is determined; the state of charge of the battery is compared to at least one threshold; a charge profile is selected from a plurality of charge profiles based on a result of the comparison of the state of charge of the battery to the at least one threshold; and a charger configured to charge the battery is modified based on the selected charge profile.

  • Patent number: 9553470
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operating a lead acid battery which undergoes discharging phases and charging phases in a cyclical fashion. The method involves monitoring the current discharged from the battery during a discharging phase and recording information relating to that current flow, such as the charge lost from the battery. During the subsequent charging phase, a desired amount of charge to be supplied to the battery is calculated based upon the recorded information, and then supplied to the battery.

  • Publication number: 20120139476
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operating a lead acid battery in which the battery is monitored during the discharging and charging of the battery, and information relating to the discharging and/or charging history of the battery, such as the total charge supplied to the battery over its lifetime, is recorded, and the voltage applied during the charging of the battery is adjusted in dependence upon that information.
