  • Patent number: 5915689
Abstract: A blade for use in an apparatus for urging sheets against registration edges in a sheet compiler is provided. The blade includes a body having a contact surface for contact with the sheets and a locating feature. The locating feature is connected to the body for locating the blade to the apparatus. The locating feature includes a prevention feature for preventing the blade from being inserted into the apparatus in a first orientation and to permit the blade to be inserted into the apparatus in a second orientation, opposed to the first orientation, so that the blade is properly installed into the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5595336
Abstract: A safety system for a power stapler in which stapling of a set of sheets is actuated by inserting the set of sheets into the stapling jaws of the stapler, includes a large transparent upper plate mounted above the entrance to the stapling jaws and extending away from the stapling jaws by a distance greater than the length of a human finger, more than approximately 8 centimeters, and a lower plate below the entrance to the stapling jaws similarly extending, to prevent fingers from being inserted into the stapling jaws of the stapler. The upper and lower plates are spaced apart by a distance greater than the maximum thickness of the set of sheets to be stapled, to allow any set of sheets to be inserted into the stapling jaws from in between the upper and lower plates and be movable for alignment between the plates while being visible through the transparent upper plate.

  • Patent number: 5243384
Abstract: A module adapted to be mounted removably in a printing machine. The module has a photoconductive belt entrained about a plurality of rollers mounted on a frame. One of the rollers is movable between a non-operative position, in which the space between the rollers is reduced, and an operative position, in which the space between the rollers is increased. A charging station and a cleaning station are mounted on the frame of the module adjacent the photoconductive belt. When one of the rollers is in the non-operative position, a cover covers at least the photoconductive belt. The cover has an insert about which a portion of the photoconductive is wrapped. The insert supports the photoconductive belt in a non-tensioned condition external to the printing machine.
