  • Patent number: 5603789
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for glazing a last lite into a window opening between two previously installed lites. Retainers are installed onto the adjacent vertical edges of the two previously installed lites. The retainers are configured such that the last lite can be pivoted into position against a transverse flange of the retainer without obstruction. Subsequent to the last lite being set, frame members are engaged with the retainers, thereby capturing the edges of the last lite between the retainers and the corresponding frame members. The last lite is then structurally bonded to the frame members. The entire last lite glazing sequence can be accomplished quickly and easily from inside the building.

  • Patent number: 5592795
Abstract: An improved pressure plate for glazed panel wall construction is disclosed for retaining a glazing panel in place against a corresponding frame member. A gasket element is bonded to the pressure plate and confronts an exterior marginal portion of the glazing panel to retain the glazing panel in place against the frame member. In the disclosed embodiment, the gasket element is comprised of an elastomeric material which is formed integrally with, and preferably coextruded with, the pressure plate. Also in the disclosed embodiment a compression seal bonded to the pressure plate is interposed between the pressure plate and the frame member to thermally isolate the pressure plate from the frame member and to provide a watertight seal. Again, the compression seal of the disclosed embodiment is formed integrally with, and preferably coextruded with, the pressure plate.

  • Patent number: 5490358
Abstract: A retainer and weatherseal for structurally bonded glazing, which includes an elongate retainer profile having a generally H-shaped transverse cross section, thereby forming a pair of elongate U-shaped retaining channels; and securing device for securing the profile coextensively along a curtainwall framing member, such that one side of the pair of retaining channels is urged against the framing member. The retainer may be in combination with a curtainwall framing member, which includes a framing member having securing device longitudinally along the outward face of the framing member, for receiving the securing device and which are reciprocally configured, the retainer being secured to the framing member with the securing device interlocked in the securing device. The retainer and framing member combination are utilized in a curtainwall framing system having structurally bonded glazing wherein each of the intermediate vertical framing members of the system include the retainer and framing member.

  • Patent number: 5323577
Abstract: A mullion framework provides an improved configuration for mounting solid and glass panels, which is effective in mounting panels abutting fixed sills and headers. An improved universal bracket is also provided which allows for panel expansion or contractions due to thermal cycling. The brackets allow for an improved assembly method for installing solid panels underneath headers.

  • Patent number: 4650702
Abstract: An adhesively glazed curtainwall system, comprising prebonded structural interfaces on each light of glass of the curtainwall system, which are clipped during glazing onto the respective mullions of the curtainwall; and means for nonstructurally weather sealing between adjacent lights of glass of the curtainwall and which are installed from the interior side of the curtainwall coincidentally with glazing and are configured so as to be captured by said structural interfaces when clipped onto said respective mullions.

  • Patent number: 4448001
Abstract: A moisture control dam system for curtain wall structures including spaced apart vertical and horizontal members in a framework for supporting wall panels. The horizontal frame members have an upwardly opening channel for receiving a lower edge portion of the panels and the channel includes an upstanding outer wall, a spaced apart upstanding inner wall, and a bottom wall. The upstanding walls are provided with thickened ribs on the inside surfaces adjacent the upper edges and sealing strips are mounted on the ribs for providing moisture seal around the edges of the outside face of the panel. Each rib projects outwardly of the adjacent inside wall surface toward a rib on an opposite channel wall and a pair of vertical grooves are formed therein adjacent the ends of the horizontal frame member for receiving vertical dams of sheet material that are inserted therein to dam up any accumulated moisture in the channel and prevent the discharge thereof out the end of the frame member.
