  • Patent number: 10989543
Abstract: A controller for managing data demand to and from an asset is described. In particular, the controller is configured to obtain streams of local data from one or more local data sources, said local data providing local information of a current condition of the asset. Once received, the controller determines one or more potential future conditions of the asset based on the current condition of the asset and on changes in the local data. A bandwidth requirement is then determined to obtain streams of remote data from one or more remote data sources potentially relevant to the one or more potential future conditions. This bandwidth requirement is then compared to an available bandwidth; and a priority order determined for obtaining the remote data if the available bandwidth is below the bandwidth requirement.

  • Patent number: 5859584
Abstract: A combined data and power transmission arrangement has one or more power supplies and loads interconnected by a power transmission line, with transmitters and receivers for transmitting a digital data signal over the transmission line. The transmitter and receiver each include an inductor for providing a high impedance barrier to a data signal on the line, so as to isolate the data signal from the power supply and load. The receiver includes circuits for tracking the mid-point value of the data signal to produce a threshold value, and for comparing the threshold value with the data signal to produce an output signal. The threshold value is a controlled positive feedback signal derived from the output of the comparator by way of a positive feedback loop having a time constant approximately equal to the time constant of the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 5502760
Abstract: A telephone-line dedicating apparatus which is connected between an external telephone-line and a specified telephone-line utilization apparatus such as a telephone-set, facsimile machine or the like and which upon energization causes one or more other telephone-line utilization apparatus to be unable to function connected to said external telephone-line is disclosed. Specially, when said specified telephone-line utilization apparatus is a facsimile machine, any influence on said facsimile machine which is in use, due to noises from the other equipments connected to the same external telephone-line can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5396544
Abstract: A telephone answering apparatus permits a called party to select between an automatic mode wherein a message is automatically played back to a caller without any action of the called party and a prenouncer mode wherein a message is played back to the caller when activated by the called party. The telephone answering apparatus includes a ring detector circuit connectable to an outside line and responsive to an incoming call on the outside line for producing a ring detected signal, a timer and driver circuit responsive to the ring detected signal for producing a playback signal and a manually actuatable answer switch. A mode switch capable of selecting one of the prenouncer mode and the automatic mode is connected to the timer and driver circuit, to the ring detector circuit and to the answer switch.
