Patent number: 11918519Abstract: Several solutions are described for making it easier to move a surgical robotics patient table, either from rest or to turn it. The table has a base, a support, and a table top on which the patient is supported. A number of casters are mounted to a body of the base. In one case, controllable jacks lift the body to release the casters thereby allowing them to swivel to a desired orientation. In another case, a drive assembly is rotatably coupled to the body of the base and includes an electric drive motor and a drive wheel to drive the table across the floor. Other aspects are also described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2020Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Verb Surgical Inc.Inventors: Karen Shakespear Koenig, Pablo Garcia Kilroy, Richard W. Timm, Wayne Grout, Robert T. Wiggers

Patent number: 11577382Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing a robotic arm cart for transporting, delivering, and securing robotic arms to a surgical table having a tabletop on which a patient can be disposed are described herein. In some embodiments described herein an arm cart can contain multiple robotic arms. A robotic arm can be selected and moved from a storage position within the arm cart to a deployment position in which at least a portion of that robotic arm protrudes from the arm cart. A robotic arm in a deployment position can be coupled to a surgical table and decoupled from the arm cart.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2020Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: VERB SURGICAL INC.Inventors: David James Cagle, Wayne Grout, Seung Mo Lim, Karen Shakespear Koenig, Robert T. Wiggers

Patent number: 11564764Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus can include a cart for a surgical robotic arm having a coupler releasably coupleable to a coupling site on a surgical table. The cart can include a base and a first engagement feature. The base can be freely movably on a support surface between a first location remote from the surgical table and a second location adjacent the surgical table. The first engagement feature can be configured for engagement with a second engagement feature associated with the surgical table such that, when the first engagement feature and the second engagement feature are engaged, the coupler of the robotic am is disposed in a position in which the coupler of the robotic arm can be engaged by the coupler of the surgical table.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2020Date of Patent: January 31, 2023Assignee: VERB SURGICAL INC.Inventors: David James Cagle, Wayne Grout, Karen Shakespear Koenig, Bernard Fai Kin Siu, Jose Luis Cordoba

Publication number: 20220124881Abstract: A temperature sensing device for a heating surface for food products includes a temperature probe configured to be coupled to the heating surface and to generate an electrical signal indicative of a temperature of the heating surface. The device includes a controller in electrical communication with the temperature probe. The device includes a wireless transmitter in electrical communication with the controller. The controller is configured to read the electrical signal from the temperature probe and to provide an output signal to the wireless transmitter. The wireless transmitter is configured to wirelessly transmit a temperature signal to a transceiver based on the output signal. The wireless transmitter is configured to wirelessly receive energy. The controller is configured to be powered by the received energy from the wireless transmitter.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2021Publication date: April 21, 2022Inventors: Michael BALSAMO, Cameron BENNETT, Jeff C. JENSEN, Noe ESPARZA, Steven FREHN, Wayne GROUT, Maxwell GOODMAN, Molly HOELPER, Andrew STULC, Larry G. KISER, Leo AMAR

Patent number: 11185455Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus can include a surgical table and an adapter coupled thereto. The adapter includes an interface structure, a first link member pivotally coupled to the interface structure at a first joint, and coupled to a second link member of the adapter at a second joint. The second link member can also be coupleable to a robotic arm via a coupling. The first joint can allow the first link member to rotate about a first axis defined in a vertical direction relative to the table top, and the second joint can allow the second link member and a robotic arm coupled thereto to move in a vertical direction relative to the table top. The first link member and the second link member collectively provide for movement of the robotic arm in at least one of a lateral, longitudinal or vertical direction relative to the table top.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2017Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignees: Verb Surgical Inc., Maquet GmbHInventors: David Cagle, Pablo E. Garcia Kilroy, Karen Shakespear Koenig, Jacob Spencer Gee, Wayne Grout, Michael P. Schaller

Publication number: 20210341007Abstract: An apparatus can include a coupler for coupling a robotic arm to a surgical table having a table top on which a patient can be disposed. The coupler can include a first portion configured to couple to a surgical table and a second portion configured to couple to a robotic arm. The second portion may include a post that may translate into the first portion. The first portion may comprise a locking mechanism having one or more stages to constrain movement of the second portion relative to the first portion in six degrees of freedom. The coupler can thus provide secure coupling of the robotic arm to the surgical table.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2021Publication date: November 4, 2021Inventors: Wayne GROUT, David James CAGLE, Richard William TIMM, Brendan C. REESE, Michael P. SCHALLER, Robert J. CAMPBELL
