  • Patent number: 10953926
Abstract: A protective cage assembly includes a frame, a bracket assembly mounted to a first tubular member of the frame, a gusset of the bracket assembly extending between the bracket assembly and a second tubular member of the frame, and a third tubular member of the frame removably received by the bracket assembly. The protective cage assembly may be mounted within a cargo space of an electrified vehicle for both protecting the battery pack and establishing a load bearing floor of the cargo space.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 2018
Date of Patent: March 23, 2021
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Robert Howard Saunders, Wayne Haider, Catherine Bansek, Steven Michael Cyr, Luke Allen Pontz, Sahil Nagpal, Jeffery Gilchrist

  • Patent number: 9490640
Abstract: A temperature monitoring vehicle charger cord assembly includes a wall plug; a pair of power prongs carried by the wall plug; at least one thermal sensor carried by the wall plug, the at least one thermal sensor adapted to monitor a charging temperature; a battery electric vehicle electrical plug; and a microprocessor electrically interfacing with the power prongs, the at least one thermal sensor and the battery electric vehicle electrical plug. The microprocessor is programmed to perform at least one of terminating electrical current and reducing amperes of electrical current flowing from the pair of power prongs to the battery electric vehicle electrical plug if the charging temperature at least meets a predetermined maximum threshold charging temperature. A temperature monitoring vehicle charging method is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 2013
Date of Patent: November 8, 2016
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC

  • Patent number: 8075329
Abstract: A system and method is provided for preventing disengagement between an electrical plug and a charge port on an electric vehicle. One or more projections are disposed on the electric vehicle. The projection has an extended locked position and a retracted unlocked position. An actuator selectively extends and retracts the projection between the locked and unlocked positions. When the projection is in the locked position, the projection engages the plug and prevents disengagement of the plug and the port.
