  • Patent number: 9003750
Abstract: A debris sweep and dry assist device is for use with a strapping machine. The debris sweep and dry assist device is positioned between the strapping machine and an associated strap supply. The device includes a body having a strap inlet and a strap outlet and defining a strap path therethrough. The body has a first wall at about the strap inlet and a second wall at about the strap outlet. The body has a first manifold and a plurality of first branches extending between the first manifold and the first wall to provide a plurality of flow paths from the first manifold to the environs through the first branches. A compressed is gas directed into the first manifold and flows out of the first branches, and is directed onto strap material at a location at about the strap inlet.

  • Patent number: 8015671
Abstract: A plastic strap particularly useful for automated strapping machines is formed with an integrated, longitudinally disposed rib for enhancing the stiffness of the strap. The strap is formed with at least one rib extending longitudinally from a first end of the strap to a second end of the strap. The rib preferably extends upwardly from the top surface of the strap and comprises, preferably, a slight arcuate profile. The profile of the rib, the number of ribs, and the location of the ribs on the strap may vary depending upon the desired longitudinal stiffness of the strap and the desired width and thickness of the strap. The ribs may be centered across the width the strap or offset. The strap further comprises side panels that are parallel to the longitudinal plane of the strap and outer edges that are generally perpendicular to the longitudinal plane of the strap. The geometry of the strap prevents the strap from twisting and permits overlapping sections of the strap to interlock and self-align during sealing.

  • Patent number: 7007597
Abstract: A vibrator assembly is for use on a strapping head for a strapping machine configured to position, tension and seal strapping material around a load. The strapping head includes a body, an anvil, and a welding motor having a rotating output shaft. The vibrator assembly includes an eccentric element operably mounted to the welding motor output shaft for rotation therewith. A bearing is disposed about the eccentric element, A housing is houses the eccentric element and bearing at least in part within the housing. The housing defines a cup-shaped well having a first axis length and a second axis length. The first axis length is longer than the second axis length. The first axis length is in a transverse direction, and the second axis length is in an oscillating direction. The bearing is restrained in the oscillating direction. A weld pad is operably connected to the housing by a link.

  • Patent number: 6532722
Abstract: A strapping head for a strapping machine of the type having a feed assembly and a chute that is configured to position, tension and seal strapping material around a load, includes a body and an anvil mounted to and movable relative to the body. A sealing member is disposed in the anvil for oscillating movement. A drive is operably connected to the sealing member and movable relative to the body to provide oscillating movement to the sealing member. First and second courses of strapping material overlie one another adjacent the sealing member, and oscillation of the sealing member effects a seal of the first and second courses of strapping material to one another.
