  • Publication number: 20060139833
Abstract: An interface enables an RF signal, a DC power signal, and a data signal to be conveyed between two devices over a single RF cable. In an exemplary application of this invention, a steerable antenna system is coupled to a wireless adapter for use in a wireless network. The steerable antenna includes a plurality of panels that can be selectively activated in response to the data signal, which also determines a direction in which an RF signal is transmitted or received by a selected panel of the antenna. Low pass filters in each device isolate the DC power supply and the load from the other two signals. High pass filters isolate the radio in the wireless adapter and the antenna array from the DC and data signals. The data signal is preferably encoded into a Manchester format that passes through a bandpass filter provided in each device.

  • Publication number: 20050270977
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for using a single transmit queue to transmit a plurality of access categories in an IEEE 802.11 system. To use a single transmit queue, conventional frame descriptors that are used to pass data frames between the wireless NIC and the host are modified to include access parameters for the packets that are associated with the frame descriptors. This allows transmission hardware to dynamically change how each packet is transmitted. For example, the contention policies may be implemented on a packet-by-packet basis, even from a single transmit queue. Also, packets of various access categories into appropriate positions within the single transmit queue.

  • Publication number: 20050229844
Abstract: A device for dispensing granulated material on a surface. A hopper having a fill opening and a dispenser opening is mounted to a wheeled frame having a control handle. An agitator is mounted in the hopper. A spreader is mounted to the frame below the dispenser opening to propel granulate material falling through the opening towards a baffle mounted to the frame. The baffle deflects the granulated material to the ground. A sweeper mounted to the frame rearwardly of the baffle sweeps granulated material deposited on the ground to ensure even distribution. A power source provides power for the various component parts.

  • Publication number: 20050114841
Abstract: A method for automatically reviewing the source code for a system where the source code is generated automatically from a model of the system is provided. In a first step, the model is read in and processed to determine the expected computer code based on the model. Next, the generated source code is read in. • Publication number: 20050067161
Abstract: In a method of crude oil production where at a well head a mixture of particulates, crude oil and water is produced for storing in a production tank for settlement of the mixture in to the constituent parts for separate extraction from the tank or the mixture is pumped though a pipeline to a remote location, the mixture is transferred from the well head to the production tank or to the pipeline through a transfer duct in which an initial separation of the mixture is caused by heating material in the duct by a surrounding jacket and by running an auger flight with a ribbon flight in the duct which carries the particulate materials along the duct for discharge.

  • Publication number: 20050025085
Abstract: A translating bi-directional packet repeater includes a first antenna and a second antenna for receiving a wireless signal, amplifying it, and retransmitting it on a different channel. The channel associated with each of the antennas is separated in frequency sufficiently to ensure good isolation between the wireless signals that are received and then retransmitted. The wireless signal is down converted to an intermediate frequency (IF) that is passed through a band pass filter, and the filtered signal is then up converted and retransmitted on the different channel. A controller responds to a wireless signal on one of the antennas in selecting a path through the bi-directional amplifier and the antennas used to receive and retransmit the signal. The isolation between the received wireless signal and the retransmitted wireless signal is sufficient to avoid interference, and the retransmission takes place almost instantaneously to minimize the delay incurred.

  • Publication number: 20040012492
Abstract: An apparatus and method therefor wherein instead of applying a high bias voltage 100 per cent of the time to leads susceptible to dendrite formation, the bias voltage is switched from a low bias voltage to a high voltage bias mode when the leads (19) are to be read or scanned by a microprocessor (14), and the bias voltage is then switched back to a low bias voltage mode when the lines are not being read, e.g., at other times, thereby greatly reducing the high bias “on” time and dramatically reducing the probability of dendrite formation. The reduction of high bias voltage “on” time is accomplished by programming the microprocessor (14) to switch the applicable input ports (16) to be output ports when the leads (19) are not to be read. As output ports, the output impedance and output voltage of the microprocessor are low as opposed to a high input impedance when the terminals are input terminals.

  • Publication number: 20030227565
Abstract: A system for processing auxiliary information included in a television signal provides on-screen bitmapped displays using limited computing and memory resources. According to an exemplary embodiment, closed caption data is received in a vertical blanking interval (VBI) of a television signal or in one or more packets of digital data. A display list is generated in dependence upon the received closed caption data. The display list includes a bitmap pointer which points to bitmap data in a memory. The display list may also include: resolution data indicating a number of bits per pixel to be provided in the closed caption display, height data indicating a character height in pixels for the closed caption display, and width data indicating a character width in pixels for the closed caption display. The bitmap data is output as pixel data for the closed caption display. The closed caption display may be scrolled by manipulating the bitmap pointer.
