  • Publication number: 20150116451
Abstract: In one embodiment, video is transmitted between a sending device and a receiving device. The sending device is configured to receive adjacent camera views and encode the adjacent camera views independently into video streams. The sending device performs an image analysis on the adjacent camera views in order to generate a projection matrix to relate the adjacent camera views. The projection matrix and the encoded video streams are sent to at least one receiver. The receiver is configured to receive the encoded video streams and the projection matrix relating the encoded video streams. The receiver calculates an aggregate video stream using the projection matrix. The aggregate video stream includes portions of at least two of the encoded video streams. Other receivers may receive the same encoded video streams and generate a different aggregate video stream having a varying size, resolution, or number of views.

  • Publication number: 20150105943
Abstract: Embodiments of a metrology device and a computer-implemented method generate survey data without touching the subsea objects being surveyed. The metrology device can include an inertial navigation system (INS) outputting position and orientation data of the metrology device; an aiding device positioned at a known distance and orientation with respect to the INS for collecting image data of the subsea objects; and a computer having one or more computer programs that use the image data to calculate measured velocity of the metrology device at first and second subsea objects to perform virtual zero velocity updates, and uses an apparent difference in the position of the first subsea object measured prior and subsequent to measuring the second subsea object to perform virtual position update.

  • Patent number: 8890880
Abstract: A method, device, and system are disclosed. In one embodiment the method includes determining a current computing-memory ratio. Then the method compares the current computing-memory ratio to a lower ratio threshold value. Then the method configures a next draw command to be performed using a graphics memory efficiency operational mode when the current computing-memory ratio is below the lower ratio threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20130166650
Abstract: Techniques are provided to improve user experience at endpoint devices that are participating in a multipoint screen content sharing session. A server in a multipoint communication system receives video frames from a sending endpoint device in the communication session that involves one or more other endpoint devices that are to receive video frames from the sending endpoint device. The video frames include key reference frames that use either intra-frame prediction or inter-frame prediction based only on other key reference frames. The server stores the key reference frames. When a new receiving endpoint device joins the communication session, the server sends all the stored key reference frames to the new receiving endpoint device. All video frames received from the sending endpoint device are forwarded to existing ordinary receiving endpoint devices. Key reference frames and some, but not all, non-key reference video frames are forwarded to existing low-capacity receiving endpoint devices.

  • Publication number: 20130114704
Abstract: A method, a device and computer readable storage media facilitate providing screen content including a plurality of video frames that are displayed by a computing device. During coding of the screen content, a suitable predictor is found that is used to code pixel blocks from one or more frames. The suitable predictor is found by selecting a pixel block of a current frame, conducting a direction based search by comparing pixel blocks within a search window of a reference frame with the selected pixel block of the current frame to determine whether a match exists, and, in response to a determination that no sufficient match has been found, conducting a feature oriented search by comparing pixel blocks of the reference frame with the selected pixel block of the current frame to find a suitable match based upon a common feature.

  • Patent number: 8304253
Abstract: A refill droplet facilitates the extraction of a droplet laterally from a channel in a microfluidic apparatus. Such extraction allows a discrete band of separated particles or solute molecules to be excised from a fluid stream and processed and analyzed separately. An extraction point is located along the length of the channel and includes an EWOD surface or similar microfluidic technology to extract a droplet. An opening in the channel opposite the extraction means is equipped with microfluidic technology to transport a refill droplet to the opening. The refill droplet is moved into the channel or column to occupy the area previously occupied by the extracted droplet. This prevents distortion or mixing of the bands of particles or molecules within the channel and prevents the draining of any portion of the fluidic system.

  • Patent number: 7917288
Abstract: A geographic navigation system for segmenting a received set of instructions (or directions) that guide a user over a geographic route from a starting location to an ending location, and then abbreviating a subset of the instructions related to the inexact or familiar regions into a more concise and relevant form, yet retain all the information for guiding the user on the trip. Route segmentation occurs before instruction abbreviation by segmenting the route into multiple logical components in which abbreviation can be applied. After the need for instruction abbreviation is recognized and the route is segmented, techniques and designs are employed to generate understandable strings that describe the abbreviated directions as well as controls that allow optimization of the user experience.

  • Patent number: 5759092
Abstract: An apparatus for sharpening the teeth of a circular saw comprises a rocking arm with a pawl to engage and actuate the teeth of an indexing ratchet wheel which is mounted coaxially with the circular saw for synchronous clockwise indexing, and a grinding wheel capable of intermittently moving forward to contact and grind the saw teeth. A cam mechanism controls the rocking arm so that the land of each saw tooth first contacts the grinding wheel when the grinding wheel moves forward, prior to the contacting of the root and the cutting edge thereof with the grinding wheel when the grinding wheel is about to reach its frontmost position. The saw tooth starts to stop temporarily for a short time when the grinding wheel is about to contact the root and the cutting edge. The problems of damages caused by impacts and/or excessive contact pressure are therefore alleviated.
