  • Publication number: 20220314728
Abstract: A hydraulic actuator for a vehicle suspension includes: a pump assembly including an electric motor coupled to first and second pumps to transfer hydraulic fluid to a discharge header; a first isolation valve having an elastomeric seat and configured to selectively block fluid flow from a port in fluid communication with a height-adjustable damper to the discharge header; and a second isolation valve having a metal seat and connected in series with the first isolation valve to selectively block fluid flow from the port to the discharge header. The first pump transfers hydraulic fluid from a supply fluid passage to a first discharge header, and the second pump transfers hydraulic fluid from the supply fluid passage to a second discharge header. A recirculation valve selectively controls fluid flow from the second discharge header to the supply fluid passage.

  • Publication number: 20180134458
Abstract: A closure for use in closing a container which includes a seal liner, and includes side walls with an upper panel which is integral with the side walls. The upper panel has an upper surface defining a recessed relief area which corresponds to a venting location. The recessed relief area of the upper panel represents a location where a sufficient down force is not available for bonding a seal liner at that location to a container neck land surface. As such, the recessed relief defines a venting location for an assembled combination of the closure, container and seal liner.

  • Patent number: 8720352
Abstract: This improved apparatus for planting grain crops provides improved emergence, particularly under heavy soil conditions, promotes more vigorous growth, reduces tillering and improves the yield in wheat and barley crops. The improved apparatus receives seed at a more-or-less uniform rate, captures the flow of seed until a multiplicity of seed generally in the range of 20 to 30 seeds is gathered, then releases seed in concentrated groups spaced apart from one another and with blank or non-seeded portions therebetween into a furrow prepared by an angled disk.

  • Patent number: 7976109
Abstract: A hybrid brake apparatus for a vehicle includes a front hydraulically actuated brake circuit, a rear electrically actuated brake circuit, and a controller. The front hydraulically actuated brake circuit includes a master cylinder for providing pressurized fluid to the front brake circuit in response to an input applied to the master cylinder for applying a frictional front braking force. The rear electrically actuated brake circuit is controllable in response to the input for providing a frictional rear braking force. The rear brake circuit is controlled in accordance with a first predetermined relationship between the input and rear braking force during normal operation of the front brake circuit. If the controller detects a degradation of front braking force, the rear brake circuit is controlled in accordance with a second predetermined relationship between the input and the rear braking force, to thereby compensate for the degradation of front braking force.

  • Patent number: 7926888
Abstract: The present invention discloses a braking apparatus for a vehicle having a brake pedal. The braking apparatus includes a master cylinder having a reservoir for retaining a brake fluid. At least one hydraulically actuated brake is in fluid communication with the master cylinder and a control unit is in electrical communication with the hydraulically actuated brake. A replenishment system is in fluid communication with the master cylinder and in electrical communication with the control unit for feeding the brake fluid into the replenishment system during a first condition and feeding the brake fluid from the replenishment system into the hydraulically actuated brake during a second condition after initial depression of the brake pedal to provide consistent pedal feel and braking pressure.

  • Patent number: 7798577
Abstract: Apparatus including a brake control assembly having a brake fluid accumulator assembly. The brake fluid accumulator assembly includes a brake fluid orifice, at least one brake-fluid-accumulating piston bore, a controllable bi-directional motor, and at least one piston. The brake fluid orifice is fluidly connectable to a brake apply master cylinder and is fluidly connectable to a wheel brake. The at-least-one brake-fluid-accumulating piston bore is fluidly connected to the brake fluid orifice. The motor has a first motor driving direction and an opposite second motor driving direction. The at-least-one piston is each positioned in and slidable within a corresponding brake-fluid-accumulating piston bore and is each movable by the motor, in the first motor driving direction, to move in compression within the corresponding brake-fluid-accumulating piston bore.

  • Patent number: 7413263
Abstract: The invention provides a method for controlling a vehicle with a braking system including a modulator pump. A first fluid line can communicate brake fluid from the master cylinder to a brake caliper. An isolation valve including a pressure bypass can be disposed along the fluid line between the master cylinder and the brake caliper. A second fluid line can extend from a first position along the first fluid line between the master cylinder and the isolation valve to a second position along the first fluid line between the isolation valve and the brake caliper. A modulating pump is disposed along the second fluid line to pump fluid to the brake caliper during a controlled brake event. The modulator pump is engaged to pump fluid to the brake caliper until the pressure in the first fluid line reached slightly below the predetermined pressure to prevent the isolation valve from opening in response to excessive pressure.
