Abstract: Vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (VTOLs) of the type used for the point-to-point delivery and transport of payloads (e.g., packages, equipment, etc.) and personnel, are significantly stabilized at least during takeoff and landing with present aspects significantly ameliorating or significantly eliminating destabilizing effects, including ground effect, during VTOL takeoff and/or landing. VTOL performance is further improved through the use of increased lift pressure and battery charging during takeoff.

Abstract: A carousel ride system includes a first rotatable platform and multiple second rotatable platforms. Each second rotatable platform of the multiple second rotatable platforms is positioned within a respective opening in the first rotatable platform. A first drive system is configured to drive rotation of the first rotatable platform and multiple second drive assemblies are configured to drive rotation of the multiple second rotatable platforms. Multiple figures extend over the multiple second rotatable platforms and multiple figure drive assemblies are configured to independently lift and rotate the multiple figures relative to the multiple second rotatable platforms. One or more processors are configured to coordinate operation of the first drive system, the multiple second drive assemblies, and the multiple figure drive assemblies to maintain the multiple figures in a forward-facing orientation relative to a direction of travel of the first rotatable platform during operation of the carousel ride system.

One, two or at least three supports extend from the trailer toward ground and are configured to partially support the trailer when in contact with ground, in addition to any axle groups that exist on the trailer. At least one device configured to absorb, damp, or both absorb and damp vibrations from the mechanical equipment during operation is provided. Each device is operatively coupled to, for example integrated with, a corresponding one of the support structures.

Abstract: A tool may be used to form an engine cylinder bore in a compacted graphite iron workpiece using helical interpolation. The tool may be rotated about a first axis while orbiting about a second axis that is parallel to the first axis. While rotating and orbiting, the tool may be advanced into the workpiece. This helical interpolation may be used to successively engage cutting or honing elements of the tool with the workpiece. The elements may thereby be permitted to cool between each successive engagement, which may reduce wear on the tool. Various operating parameters associated with the process may have certain relationships that may be exploited in certain ways to obtain ideal results. For instance, a helical interpolation process may be used to perform an act of rough cutting on the workpiece and finish honing on the workpiece, without having to perform an intermediary step of semi-finish boring.
