  • Patent number: 11021932
Abstract: A setting tool for setting an auxiliary tool in a well includes a housing holding a floating piston assembly, the floating piston assembly having a first end and a second end, which is opposite to the first end, an isolation valve assembly in fluid communication with an interior of the housing, where the isolation valve assembly is facing the second end of the floating piston assembly, and a frangible disc located at the first end of the floating piston assembly, to prevent a high-pressure gas to pass through a bore of the floating piston assembly. The floating piston assembly separates the frangible disc from the isolation valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 4898239
Abstract: A retrievable bridge plug apparatus has slip segments and packing elements which are extendable to outward positions. In a cased well, the slip segments grip the casing and prevent the longitudinal movement of the bridge plug. The packing elements contact the casing to provide a seal to isolate the well interval above the bridge plug from the well interval below the bridge plug. The bridge plug is retrieved from the well by equalizing pressure and then retracting the slip segments and packing elements. Pressure is equalized by pulling up on the retrieving tool, which couples to a fishing neck at the upper end of the bridge plug. Pulling up on the fishing neck opens a valve and exposes a flow path for fluid. The slip segments, and consequently the packing elements, are prevented from retracting during the equalization of pressure by a locking device. Then, the retrieving tool is set down to lower the fishing neck. Lowering the fishing neck releases the locking device.

  • Patent number: 4572289
Abstract: In the field of well drilling, completion and production in the petroleum industry a particular type of retrievable packer is commonly set by the application of "pull-push" force which may be derived from a conventional electric wireline setting tool of the pressurized type. The present invention provides a packer retrieving tool that is capable of effective use in retrieving the abovementioned type packer through use of "pull-push" forces derived from a conventional electric wireline setting tool. The retrieving tool of the present invention additionally includes effective provisions to be utilized in the event of malfunction of the electric wireline setting tool.

  • Patent number: 4158388
Abstract: A well tool system including a device for downhole suspension by means of conduit for engaging and penetrating the casing wall of a wellbore and introducing a fluid into the adjacent penetration. The downhole device includes an expansion piston that extends with sufficient force to seal at least one end of the device against a wellbore casing of relatively large diameter. A projectile is subsequently fired from the device to penetrate the engaged casing and provide a selected path of egress for squeeze cementing or the like therethrough. Thereafter, the device is released from its fixed position in the wellbore by retraction of the piston and retrieved therefrom. The device is disclosed with the expansion piston and method of operation therefor shown and described in several embodiments including explosive and hydraulic actuated mechanisms.
