  • Patent number: 8791683
Abstract: A monolithic voltage reference circuit may include a voltage-mode band-gap reference circuit, a temperature independent differential current source, and a temperature dependent differential current source. The voltage-mode band-gap reference circuit may include an error amplifier having differential input nodes. The temperature independent differential current source may be configured to add in or subtract from the differential input nodes a substantially temperature independent differential current with an allocation between the nodes that is controlled by a selectable output voltage trim setting. • Patent number: 8648623
Abstract: A single stage current sense amplifier is described that generates a differential output that is proportional to a current through a sense resistor. The voltage across the sense resistor is Vsense. The current sense amplifier includes a differential transconductance amplifier having high impedance input terminals. An on-chip RC filter filters transients in the Vsense signal. A feedback circuit for each leg of the amplifier causes a pair of input transistors to conduct a fixed constant current irrespective of Vsense, which stabilizes the transconductance. A gain control resistor (Re) is coupled across terminals of the pair of input transistors and has Vsense across it. The current through the gain control resistor is therefore Vsensex1/Re. A level shifting circuit coupled to each of the input transistors lowers a common mode voltage at an output of the amplifier. Chopper circuits at the input and output cancel any offset voltages.

  • Patent number: 6924689
Abstract: A core voltage to input output voltage level shifter of the type that uses a reference voltage source to generate a reference voltage to limit a drain voltage on at least one voltage sensitive node connected to a voltage sensitive switching device, that resides on a high voltage domain. A feed back line runs from the voltage sensitive node to the reference voltage source. A feed back structure varies the reference voltage in response to the drain voltage on the at least one voltage sensitive node, and thereby maintains the drain voltage at a substantially constant desired value.

  • Patent number: 6707418
Abstract: Correlating observations of objects in the sky to determine an orbit includes identifying an initially identified object, determining if the initially identified object will be identifiable again, and identifying a subsequently identified object. A determination is then made by comparing characteristics of the initially identified object with the subsequently identified object. If the object correlate to one another a path or orbit of the object can be determined using the characteristics of the initially identified object and the subsequently identified object.

  • Publication number: 20030183697
Abstract: A system and corresponding method include an RF tag coupled to a communications backbone running through a mobile system such as a train. The communications backbone can form part of an electrically controlled pneumatic braking system of the train, which includes a head end unit in the locomotive, and car control units in each railcar of the train. The RF tag includes a communications unit that permits data exchange between the head end unit and other tags within the train, via the communications backbone. The RF tag also includes a processor and an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) having memory for storing data therein. The RF tag furthermore includes an antenna to permit the tag to exchange data wirelessly with external readers, such as hand-held readers and wayside readers.

  • Patent number: 6624705
Abstract: A circuit for controlling a phase-locked loop (PLL) with reduced cycle slip during acquisition of phase lock includes frequency dividers with selectable divisors for the reference and feedback signals, and a phase detector having a charge pump output circuit with selectable output current ranges. During acquisition of phase lock by the PLL, the divisors for the reference and feedback signal frequency dividers are increased by the same factor, and the charge pump current range is increased by the same ratio. As a result, the reference rate is decreased as the charge pump current range is increased simultaneously by the same ratio. Meanwhile, the linear loop bandwidth and phase margin remain substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 6624707
Abstract: A gain control for a phase locked loop circuit is provided. In the phase-locked loop circuit, a voltage controlled oscillator generates a reference signal responsive to the level of a tuning voltage. A phase detector generates the tuning voltage update, which is indicative of a phase relationship between the reference signal and an input signal. A feedback circuit detects the tuning voltage and generates an adjustment signal in response. The adjustment signal is then used to adjust the loop gain at any specific tuning voltage. In a specific example, the adjustment signal is used to adjust the current gain of the phase detector in a manner that is complementary to the non-linear voltage gain of the voltage-controlled oscillator.

  • Patent number: 5713912
Abstract: A ligating clip having surfaces with slanted ramp members for clamping a tubular vessel. The ligating clip includes a pair of legs, each of which has a proximal end, a distal end and an inner surface. The proximal ends of the legs are joined to define a hinge. The legs may be forced together onto a tubular vessel such that the inner surfaces of the legs are face-to-face in a closed position. A lock tab protrudes inward from the inner surface near the distal end of one of the legs. A lock slot is provided in the inner surface near the distal end of the other leg. The lock slot receives the lock tab to secure the ligating clip in the closed position. A number of ramp members extend angularly inward from the inner surface of each leg in order to keep the tubular vessel from slipping in the distal direction as the ligating clip is closed. A tool for applying the ligating clip is provided with a cutting blade for severing the vessel after the ligating clip has been applied.
