  • Patent number: 7770997
Abstract: A method for printing with a plurality of dies. A plurality of dies is provided, with each die having a plurality of drop generators that are configured to eject drops of a same colored fluid. The drops from each die have a corresponding nominal drop weight at a reference temperature of the die. At least one of the dies is warmed to a corresponding elevated temperature higher than the reference temperature in order to substantially equalize the nominal drop weights of all of the dies.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 27, 2004
Date of Patent: August 10, 2010
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Wayne Richard, John M. Watanabe, Jacint Humet
  • Patent number: 7758137
Abstract: A fluid ejection device includes a die having a plurality of nozzles variously configured according to a predetermined intended distribution. The fluid ejection device also includes a controller configured to set a mean drop volume of the die by selectively firing selected nozzles of the die.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 2007
Date of Patent: July 20, 2010
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: David Keller, Ronald A. Askeland, Steve Steinfield, Wayne Richard

  • Publication number: 20060284916
Abstract: A method for forming an image with at least one linear array of imaging elements. Defective ones of the imaging elements associated with a particular color are detected. A first defective imaging element compensation operation is performed for portions of the image data that are associated with a first predetermined number or fewer adjacent defective imaging elements. A different second defective imaging element compensation operation is performed for portions of the image data that are associated a second predetermined number or more adjacent defective imaging elements.

  • Publication number: 20050231549
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for grain equalization utilizing double dotting, comprising the steps of: determining a drop weight of each die in a multi-die printhead to print a given ink; determining the highest drop weight amongst all the dies; and determining a percentage of double dotting that is needed to substantially match a grain of the highest drop weight die.
