Patent number: 7724609Abstract: A paint spray gun and range finder for positioning the gun with respect to a target surface to be sprayed. The range finder provides a user of the gun with information about the distance between the gun and the target surface, with different indications when the gun is too close, too far or distanced properly from the target surface to be sprayed. An acoustic range finder provides visual indications of the proximity of the gun to the target surface. Visual indications include a digital display of the distance from the target surface and may be frozen while the gun is spraying.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2005Date of Patent: May 25, 2010Assignee: Wagner Spray Tech CorporationInventors: Wayne Robens, Timothy W. Zeigler

Patent number: 7377452Abstract: Apparatus and method for cleaning a paint cup, spray tip, and wetted parts from a hand held paint spray gun wherein the gun is disassembled after use and internal wetted parts needing cleaning are inserted into the paint cup, a cleaning cap is attached to the paint cup, and a garden hose is used to flush paint from the interior of the paint cup and the parts contained therein. In another aspect, the cleaning cap is attached to and used to flush an extended suction set having an elongated double lumen hose and adapter. The cleaning cap has a fitting adapted to receive a conventional garden hose and further has a passageway to allow water to exit from the cap after flushing the interior of the paint cup.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2004Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: Wagner Spray Tech CorporationInventors: Michael B. Jones, Wayne Robens

Publication number: 20070261913Abstract: A hand-held apparatus for spraying texture material including a body, a pressurized air source mounted on the body, a texture material hopper mounted on the body, and a texture delivery nozzle for selectively spraying texture material from the hopper onto a surface to be coated by propelling the texture material using pressurized air from the pressurized air source wherein each of the air source and the hopper can be disconnected from the body without the use of tools. An air directing plunger has a plurality of discontinuities at an outlet thereof, which may be radially outwardly directed recesses or radially inwardly directed teeth for reducing the noise generated by the pressurized air during operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2006Publication date: November 15, 2007Applicant: WAGNER SPRAY TECH CORPORATIONInventors: Ross Rossner, Matt Bischel, Wayne Robens

Patent number: 7244464Abstract: A paint spray gun and range finder for positioning the gun with respect to a target surface to be sprayed. The range finder provides a user of the gun with information about the distance between the gun and the target surface, with different indications when the gun is too close, too far or distanced properly from the target surface to be sprayed. A visual or acoustic range finder provides visual or audible indications of the proximity of the gun to the target surface. One range finder has either a single laser diode and a beam splitter or a pair of laser diodes providing a pair of collimated optical beams which indicate distance to the target surface by the relative location of a pair of illuminated spots on the target surface. The spots may be offset when the gun is at the desired distance to the target surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2004Date of Patent: July 17, 2007Assignee: Wagner Spray Tech CorporationInventors: Wayne Robens, Timothy W. Ziegler

Patent number: 7240909Abstract: A paint pump cart having a telescoping handle assembly including a paint pump frame having a pair of standtubes, a handle having a pair of extensions received in the standtubes, and a pair of knobs mounted on the standtubes. Each knob is rotationally movable with respect to its standtube and has a pair of internal ramps. The handle assembly has a bushing supporting and retaining the knob while permitting movement of the knob on the standtube. A pair of resiliently mounted projections internal to the handle extensions are movable by the ramps of the knob between a locking position wherein the respective handle extension is maintained in an extended position with respect to the standtube, and a released position wherein the handle extension is allowed to telescope into the standtube towards a storage position.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2005Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Wagner Spray Tech CorporationInventor: Wayne Robens
