    Abstract: The invention provides a portable communications apparatus which is useful for reporting positional status report to a user-selected recipient(s). Using a global-positioning-receiver (i.e. GPS) to generate a location indicia of the portable communications apparatus, and a pre-defined user-generated message with at least one user-defined recipient, the apparatus, when activated by the user, sends the user-defined message, together with the location information, to the user-defined recipient. This information is useful for alerting the recipient of the user's location or to notify the recipient that assistance is needed.

    Abstract: A communication system verifying the source of a file. The system uses a first link between a sending computer and an authorizing computer which contains a request for a PIN associated with the intended receiving computer. This PIN is returned to the first computer via a second link which permits the sending computer to properly communicate in an encrypted manner with the receiving computer. An alert or notice is sent to the receiving computer by the authorizing computer to further verify the authenticity of the file being sent to the receiving computer from the sending computer.

Using a cellular telephone, the user creates the medical information that they deem appropriate (i.e. medications being taken, doctor with phone number, and medical conditions). This medical information is stored either locally on the cellular telephone or on a remote computer. The emergency care-giver is able to easily access this information by pressing a single button to get the medical information displayed on the screen on the cellular telephone or audibly recreated on the cellular telephone.
