  • Patent number: 6138412
Abstract: A door opener and closer that provides motive power for opening and closing a door. A double acting cylinder pivotally mounted on the door is coupled to a roller arm. A roller on the roller arm is captive within a cage mounted to the door frame. The cylinder applies a force on the roller arm in one direction to open the door and in the opposite direction to close the door. The components are mounted in a manner such that none of the components project into the door opening. The door opener and closer eliminates the need for a separate closer. The door may be opened manually with minimum resistance.

  • Patent number: 5368435
Abstract: A side shifter (20) attachment for a lift truck (10) having an upper crossbar (44) and a lower crossbar (46) is disclosed. The side shifter has a rigid frame (24) slideably positioned with respect to the upper and lower crossbars (44, 46) of the lift truck. The frame (24) has an upper horizontal cross member (26) and a lower horizontal cross member (28). A low-friction slide block (80)is positioned on the lower horizontal cross member (28). A lower intermediate plate (81) having a first (75) and a second (77) surface is positioned between the slide block (80) and the lower crossbar (46). The first surface (75) is in contact with the slide block (80) and the second surface is in contact with the lower crossbar (46). At least the first surface (75) of the lower intermediate plate (81) has a smooth, low-friction surface to facilitate sliding of the lower horizontal cross member (28) with respect to the lower crossbar (46).

  • Patent number: 5088873
Abstract: A mixed freight handling system, particularly for limited access areas such as an end-opening trailer at a dock, includes a telescoping conveyor overlapping a fixed conveyor and translatable into the trailer to receive hand liftable articles. A freight manipulator includes an appropriate and changeable freight manipulator tool mounted on an extendible boom and is translatable adjacent and along the conveyors to the dock edge. The tool is extendible into the trailer for engaging and supporting manually nonliftable freight for transfer to or from a freight conveyor extending alongside the path of the manipulator. The telescoping conveyor includes a base section engaged with a track, an inclinable lift section, and a liftable and laterally swingable head section. The manipulator includes a chassis engaged with a track straddling the fixed and telescoping conveyors and has a tunnel formed therethrough, allowing the passage of articles on the conveyors therebeneath.
