  • Patent number: 10511843
Abstract: A method and apparatus for loop filter processing of video data in a video encoder or decoder are disclosed. Embodiments according to the present invention conditionally allow sharing of loop filter parameters. In one embodiment, sharing of loop filter information between the current block and a neighboring block is determined according to a condition. If the condition indicates that sharing of loop filter information is allowed, a merge flag is coded and incorporated in the video bitstream in an encoder, and a merge flag is parsed from the video bitstream and decoded in a decoder. In one embodiment, the condition depends on region partitioning of the picture, where region partitioning partitions the picture into regions and the region may correspond to a slice or a tile. The condition is set to indicate that sharing of loop filter information is allowed if the block and the neighboring block are in a same slice/tile.

Abstract: The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to decode and/or encode video data. If the current coding block was using more than one hypotheses of prediction data to generate the prediction data, first prediction data is determined for a current coding block of a picture generated using a first prediction mode, and second prediction data is determined for the current coding block generated using a second prediction mode. Information derived from at least one of the first prediction mode and the second prediction mode can be stored. The stored information can be referenced by the subsequent coding blocks.

  • Patent number: 10484703
Abstract: A method for video coding includes receiving a prediction block (PB) of a picture, and determining a number of merge candidate positions of the PB according to a size of the PB. The merge candidate positions on sides of the PB can be determined according to the number of the merge candidate positions. A candidate list can be constructed that includes motion data of a subset of the merge candidate positions. In some examples, a number of the merge candidate positions on one side of the PB is determined according to a side length of the respective side, or a width-height ratio of the PB. In some examples, the merge candidate positions on one side of the PB overlap or are adjacent to points that equally divide the respective side.

  • Patent number: 10475752
Abstract: A semiconductor package structure includes a substrate, a chip, bumps, an encapsulation layer and a thermal expansion-matching layer. The chip is located on a top surface of the substrate. The bumps electrically connect the chip and the inner connection pads of the substrate. The encapsulation layer covers the bumps, the chip and the top surface of the substrate. The thermal expansion-matching layer covers the whole top surface of the encapsulation layer, and exposes the side surfaces of the encapsulation layer. The thermal expansion coefficient of the thermal expansion-matching layer is different from that of the encapsulation layer. The side surface of the thermal expansion-matching layer is flush with that of the encapsulation layer. The thermal expansion-matching layer balances the inner stresses caused by the difference of the thermal expansion. Thus, the invention reduces the warpage problem of the formed package.

  • Publication number: 20190339522
Abstract: Transparent displays enable many useful applications, including heads-up displays for cars and aircraft as well as displays on eyeglasses and glass windows. Unfortunately, transparent displays made of organic light-emitting diodes are typically expensive and opaque. Heads-up displays often require fixed light sources and have limited viewing angles. And transparent displays that use frequency conversion are typically energy inefficient. Conversely, the present transparent displays operate by scattering visible light from resonant nanoparticles with narrowband scattering cross sections and small absorption cross sections. More specifically, projecting an image onto a transparent screen doped with nanoparticles that selectively scatter light at the image wavelength(s) yields an image on the screen visible to an observer. Because the nanoparticles scatter light at only certain wavelengths, the screen is practically transparent under ambient light.
