  • Publication number: 20240007910
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station according to a first radio access technology (RAT) in a first frequency range. The UE may perform measurements on a set of candidate cells of a second RAT or a second frequency range based on a determination for the UE to operate according to the second RAT or the second frequency range. The UE may perform a mobility procedure to establish a connection with a first cell of the set of candidate cells based on a determination that a first value of a first measurement parameter for the first cell satisfies a first threshold, and further based on a comparison of a different, second value of a second measurement parameter for the first cell to a second threshold.

  • Patent number: 11800383
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may simulate transmissions received from a BS to perform on-device testing of the UE. For example, the UE may be configured to loopback uplink data from the UL data path and input the uplink data as simulated downlink data for processing in the DL data path. The uplink data may include data related to a video call or network diagnostics. The user application data generated by the application and proceeding through the UL data path may be used to validate the DL data path. Downlink control information (DCI) may be determined by the UE and provided to the DL data path to accompany the uplink data. The DCI may include simulated uplink grants and/or simulated downlink scheduling assignments. The simulated downlink scheduling assignments may be determined based on availability of the uplink data in the UE's memory.

  • Publication number: 20230319657
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses to manage mobility in a wireless communication system. A user equipment (UE) may include a wireless communication apparatus and an application processor (AP). In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may monitor cells using a first criterion to detect problematic cells. For example, the first criterion may be associated with a history of ping-pong events or a history of data transmission errors. The wireless communication apparatus may select a cell for communication using a cell selection criteria that deprioritizes selection of problematic cells. In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may receive a list of cells from the AP or a server, the list identifying cells considered to be problematic cells. The wireless communication apparatus may adjust the first criterion to expedite detection of problematic cells.

  • Publication number: 20220303920
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for sharing a maximum transmit power limit between a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. In one aspect, a wireless communication apparatus may reduce the maximum transmit power limit of a first uplink signal associated with the first RAT to obtain a first transmit power. The wireless communication apparatus may allocate a second transmit power remaining from the maximum transmit power limit to a second uplink signal associated with the second RAT. The wireless communication apparatus may reduce the maximum transmit power limit when the wireless communication apparatus is located at a cell edge, and a higher priority of the first RAT in relation to the second RAT may otherwise result in the second transmit power of the second uplink signal not satisfying a threshold.

  • Publication number: 20220167226
Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to disable measurements of reference signals from 5G base stations which are inapplicable to EN-DC. The UE may receive a reference signal from a base station. The UE may identify a frequency range. The UE may determine whether to measure the reference signal based on whether the reference signal is within the identified frequency range. The UE may refrain from measuring the reference signal in response to the determination. The UE may also refrain from measuring the reference signal in response to a SIB received at the UE not including a ULI, or in response to a frequency associated with the reference signal not being in a list of supported bands for EN-DC. As a result, inter-RAT handovers from LTE base stations to 5G base stations are prevented, UE power consumption is thereby saved, and support for EN-DC is maintained.

  • Publication number: 20160105808
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) mitigates in-device interference caused by a simultaneous circuit-switched call on a first subscriber identity module (SIM) and another call on a second subscriber identity module (SIM) at the UE. The UE detects in-device interference between the circuit switched call and the other call. The UE then suspends the other call or reduces a transmit power of the other call when the in-device interference is above a predetermined threshold. The UE resumes the other call or increases the transmit power of the other call when the circuit switched call ends.

  • Publication number: 20140313953
Abstract: A UE may improve power performance by adjusting measurement reports based on uplink power. The UE factors in the uplink transmit power into the downlink radio signal strength measurement results that are reported to a network. When the UE is transmitting higher than normal uplink power, the UE can adjust the measurement results and report an artificially lower measurement result to the network, to account for the uplink transmit power. The UE may trigger a handover based at least in part on the adjusted measurement report.
