    Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for downloading and displaying advertisements during software installation on the device. In an embodiment, the method comprises: receiving a selection of one or more software installation options and considering any additional criteria for selection of an initialization file; in dependence upon the selection of one or more installation options and any additional criteria, downloading a corresponding initialization file; reading the downloaded initialization file for a list of one or more advertisement files to be downloaded to the device and played back in accordance with playback parameters provided in the initialization file; and downloading the list of advertisement files and displaying the advertisement files during the software installation in accordance with the playback parameters.
