  • Patent number: 11787651
Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor and a memory on which are stored computer-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, may cause the processor to receive a first sheet count before execution of a print job, receive a second sheet count after execution of the print job, and determine a number of sheets printed for the print job based on the first sheet count and the second sheet count. The processor may update a pick mechanism activation counter value based on the determined number of printed sheets. Based on a determination that the updated pick mechanism activation counter value is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold value, the processor may cause a pick mechanism to be actuated to sense a media stack height of print media.

  • Publication number: 20230144053
Abstract: In an example, a method may include determining a range of motion of a pick arm during lifting of the pick arm from a media stack position to a hard stop position in an image forming apparatus. The pick arm may have a pick roller at one end for picking a media sheet from a media stack and pivotally mounted at an opposite end to enable angular movement of the pick arm relative to the media stack. Further, the method may include estimating a height of the media stack based on the determined range of motion of the pick arm from the media stack position to the hard stop position. Furthermore, the method may include indicating an amount of media sheets remaining in the media stack corresponding to the estimated height.

  • Publication number: 20220184978
Abstract: An example apparatus includes a processor and a memory in which is stored machine-readable instructions that are executable by the processor. The instructions cause the processor to determine a first operating torque response of a motor during a first operation of the apparatus, determine a second operating torque response of the motor during a second operation of the apparatus, the second operation being different from the first process, and determine an amount of media present in a media bin based on the first operating torque response and the second operating torque response.

  • Publication number: 20220105736
Abstract: The present subject matter relates to examples of adjusting the gaps between a first print medium and a second print medium. In one example, the first print medium may be picked by a pick-up roller from an input tray and may be conveyed to towards a transfer roller along a travel path. Further, according to the example, a homing position of the first print medium along the travel path may be determined. Once the homing position is determined, a second print medium may be picked by the pick-up roller. Further, a gap between a leading edge of the second print medium and a trailing edge of the first medium may be adjusted by regulating a rotational speed of the pick-up roller based on a rotational speed of the transfer roller.

  • Patent number: 11260681
Abstract: The present subject matter discloses detection of positions of print medium for driving the print medium for printing in a printing system, in an example implementation, a motor is operated for driving the print medium, at a first specific speed, along a media-path in the printing system. After a first specific number of rotations of the motor, it is detected, based on identification of a torque change event, that the print medium at a de-skew position in the media-path. At the de-skew position a leading edge of the print medium is at a de-skew unit of the printing system and the torque change event is indicative of a deviation in a current operating torque of the motor from a standard operating torque of the motor.

  • Patent number: 10994560
Abstract: The present subject matter describes determination of amount of print media present in an input tray of a printing system. In an example implementation of the present subject matter, a current operating torque of a motor that moves a pick arm for drawing print media from the input tray is monitored. The current operating torque is monitored while the pick arm is moved between a rest position and a pick-ready position. Based on the monitored operating torque, it is determined whether amount of print media present in the input tray is one of below and above a predefined amount of print media.
