  • Patent number: 8177896
Abstract: A novel chemical genus of furan-2-one antifouling compound as non-toxic, environment friendly antifouling agent, a coating material for objects submerged under the water based on the furan-2-one compounds. The substituted furan-2-one antifouling compounds have a furan-2-one ring and an alkyl side chain thereto and are of the formula: where n=6-14, representing the number of carbon atoms in said side chain.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 16, 2009
Date of Patent: May 15, 2012
Assignee: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Inventors: Peiyuan Qian, Ying Xu, Xiaojian Zhou, Hongping He, Nobuhiro Fusetani, Wei-Min Dai

  • Patent number: 6391916
Abstract: Novel C3-substituted cyclodeca-1,5-diynes can be prepared through novel synthetic procedures using starting (E)-C3-substituted-4-(aryl- or heteroarylmethylidene)cyclodeca-1,5-diynes reagents. Both the C3-substituted cyclodeca-1,5-diyn-3-enes and the starting reagents have improved thermal stability compared to unsubstituted counterparts.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: May 21, 2002
Assignee: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Inventors: Wei-Min Dai, Anxin Wu, Yuk Ha Lee, Wataru Hamaguchi, Sei-ichi Nishimoto, Ling Zhou, Atsushi Ishii
  • Patent number: 5527805
Abstract: A fused ring system compound is disclosed that contains an epoxide group on one side of the fused rings and an enediyne macrocyclic ring on the other side of the fused rings. The compounds have DNA-cleaving, antimicrobial and tumor growth-inhibiting properties. Chimeric compounds having the fused ring system compound as an aglycone bonded to (i) a sugar moiety as the oligosaccharide portion or (ii) a monoclonal antibody or antibody combining site portion thereof that immunoreacts with target tumor cells are also disclosed. Compositions containing a compound or a chimer are disclosed, as are methods of preparing a compound.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 21, 1994
Date of Patent: June 18, 1996
    Assignee: The Scripps Research Institute
Inventors: Adrian L. Smith, Chan-Kou Hwang, Sebastian V. Wendeborn, Kyriacos C. Nicolaou, Erwin P. Schreiner, Wilhelm Stahl, Wei-Min Dai, Peter E. Maligres, Toshio Suzuki
