  • Publication number: 20200113035
Abstract: The described embodiments relate to systems, methods, and apparatuses for identifying when one or more components of a luminaire (114) in a network of luminaires has malfunctioned as a result of an electrical event (112), and determining how neighboring luminaires (106) have been affected. An electrical event such as an overvoltage or transient can damage component(s) of luminaires that are closest to a point of origin of the electrical event. However, luminaires located further away from the point of origin can also be affected. Estimating such damage can be useful for planning maintenance of the luminaires and/or their components. Furthermore, when luminaires are equipped with the ability to collect data (220) related to electrical events, such as lightning strikes, their collected data can be provided as a service for assessing damage to nearby connected devices, and predicting future electrical events.

  • Publication number: 20200051038
Abstract: The described embodiments relate to systems, methods, and apparatuses for estimating luminaire lifetimes using extrapolated sensor data. During a lifetime of a luminaire (108), a sensor (206) of the luminaire can become inoperable well before the entire luminaire becomes inoperable. In order to estimate when the luminaire will become inoperable, sensor data (504) should be continually tracked even after the sensor fails. In order to continue obtaining sensor data after the sensor fails, the sensor data can be extrapolated based on a correlation between previously received sensor data and other environmental data. The extrapolated sensor data can be tracked after the sensor becomes inoperable so that estimates of luminaire lifetime can be more accurate, compared to not having any sensor data. In this way, maintenance of luminaires can be scheduled according to predictions of luminaire lifetimes, rather than the occurrence of a luminaire failure.

  • Patent number: 10492274
Abstract: A method for calibrating an ambience lighting system for providing an ambient light effect for a cinema display screen is proposed. The method is based on implementing the ambience lighting system in the form of one or more of coded light (CL) sources. The method then includes processing one or more images of a scene being illuminated by the ambience lighting system to determine, based on the CL embedded into the light output of the individual CL sources, color and/or an intensity of the light generated by the individual CL source. The set of control data for controlling the CL sources to provide the desired ambient light effect is then based not only on the color and/or intensity of image content to be displayed on the cinema display screen, but also on the determined color and/or intensity of the light output of the individual CL sources.

  • Patent number: 10467670
Abstract: The present invention relates to assisting a user in selecting a lighting device design by providing a lighting device design based on a model or image of a lighting device design (e.g. the user uploading an image of an existing lighting device in his/her home). The lighting device design of the model or image is analyzed in order to determine a lighting device design related variable (e.g. type, shape or color of lighting device design). This variable is then used to select a lighting device design from a set of lighting device designs (e.g. to select a lighting device design of the same color, from an electronic catalogue of lighting device designs); or to generate a lighting device design (e.g. to generate a lighting device design that is a copy of the lighting device design in the image, only smaller and in a different color). The invention further includes a system and computer program product for implementation of this method.

  • Patent number: 10372765
Abstract: The present invention relates to suggesting a lighting device (408) design to a user, such as in an advertisement for a lighting device design. The suggestion is based on acquiring user interest information relating to the user from a data source such as an online user profile. A lighting device (408) design related variable (e.g. intensity, colour temperature) is determined based on the acquired user interest information using, for example, a lookup table or rules. A lighting device (408) design is then provided (e.g. selected or generated) based on the lighting device design related variable and an image (410) of the provided lighting device (408) design is displayed.

  • Publication number: 20190037667
Abstract: A lighting system comprises a light source such as a luminaire for illuminating a surface and a detector for detecting light reflected from the surface to generate a detection signal. The detection signal is processed for different illumination conditions of the surface and is adapted to derive reflectance distribution information in respect of the surface. The light source is controlled in dependence on the reflectance distribution information. The system thus includes a system for measuring surface reflectance by using a detector and observing the light reflectance from dynamic light sources.

  • Patent number: 9955927
Abstract: A system for accurately detecting a patient's movement during imaging procedures includes a camera for providing a stream of camera images of a part of a patient's exterior and a fiducial element mountable on part of the patient's exterior. The fiducial element is detectable in the stream of images. An image processor is configured to detect a displacement of the fiducial element based on consecutive images including in at least the stream of images and to generate an output signal indicative of the displacement. The fiducial element has an in-plane stiffness which is substantially larger than an in-plane stiffness of the part of the patient's exterior. In addition, the fiducial element and the part of the patient's exterior are provided with substantially equal outer in-plane dimensions.

  • Patent number: 9910575
Abstract: The present invention relates to assisting a user in selecting a lighting device (408) design through receiving an image of a scene, e.g. the user taking a picture using his/her smartphone of his/her living room (410) and analyzing this image in order to select or generate a lighting device (408) design. The analysis can comprise determining the presence of a pattern, material or color in the scene and a lighting device (408) design can be selected (e.g. from an electronic catalog) that comprises a similar pattern, material or color. As another example, a lighting device (408) design can be generated to match such a pattern, material or color. The invention further comprises a system and computer program product for implementation of this method.

  • Publication number: 20170116778
Abstract: A computer implemented method of determining a lighting effect of a luminaire when the luminaire would be placed in a space, on the basis of a two dimensional (2D) image of the space is disclosed. First, three dimensional (3D) perspective parameters are determined based on the 2D image (100), wherein the 3D perspective parameters are indicative of a 3D perspective of the space as imaged in the 2D image. Then, object information comprising information on a shape of a surface of at least one object placed in the space (102) is received. Subsequently, a representation of the shape is defined which matches the 3D perspective of the space based on the 3D perspective parameters (104). A detection of the representation of the shape in the 2D image (106) follows. From the detected representation of the shape and from the 3D perspective, surface position information indicative of the position of the surface of the at least one object in the space (108) is derived.
