Abstract: Techniques for modeling living biological systems include receiving constant values for multiple interaction factors wij. A set of initial state values is received for state variables that indicate relevant properties of a living biological system. Also received is a set of trial values for perturbation variables that indicate factors that might affect one or more of the relevant properties of the biological system. A temporal change in a value for a particular state variable is determined based on a non-linear transformation of a sum of the trial value for the perturbation that affects the particular state added to a sum of all non-zero values for a product of wij and a state variable over all state variables. In some embodiments, measurement-based values are received for a measurable subset of the state variables. Values for the constant interaction factors wij are determined based on the measurement-based values.

Abstract: An electronic document comparison system and method removes cachets and noise from a test electronic document. The system and method further compares each of second minimum blocks with a corresponding first minimum block in a standard electronic document line by line, and obtains the second minimum blocks having different coordinates on each line. Furthermore, the system and method simplifies the obtained second minimum blocks having different coordinates by filtering designated objects, and marks the simplified second minimum blocks in the test electronic document.

Abstract: A method for managing a plurality of blocks of a Flash memory includes: dynamically determining a link type regarding a logical block address according to at least one criterion, where the link type is selected from a plurality of predetermined link types; and regarding the logical block address, recording/updating the link type and linking information corresponding to the link type. An associated memory device and a controller thereof are also provided, where the controller includes: a ROM arranged to store a program code; and a microprocessor arranged to execute the program code to control the access to the Flash memory and manage the plurality of blocks.

Abstract: A method for establishing a communication channel between a host device and a memory device including a Flash memory includes: detecting at least one content that is transmitted from the host device to the memory device; and when it is detected that any content that the host device writes into a file after opening the file is at least one predetermined signature code, determining the communication channel to be established, and processing at least one portion of information that the host device writes into the file after sending the predetermined signature code by regarding the at least one portion of the information as communication contents that the host device sends to the memory device through the communication channel until the communication channel is canceled. An associated memory device and a controller thereof, and an associated host device and an associated host device application are also provided.

Abstract: A method for managing a plurality of blocks of a Flash memory includes: recording/updating linking information regarding a logical block address, wherein the linking information includes a plurality of physical block addresses linking to the logical block address, and each physical block address represents a block of the plurality of blocks; and when a block represented by a physical block address of the plurality of physical block addresses has no any valid page, selectively erasing the block and removing the physical block address from the linking information. An associated memory device and a controller thereof are also provided, where the controller includes: a ROM arranged to store a program code; and a microprocessor arranged to execute the program code to control the access to the Flash memory and manage the plurality of blocks.

Abstract: A processing digital noise method generates a matrix according to pixel values of pixels of a digital image, and selects a sub-matrix from the matrix. The sub-matrix has the same dimensions as a digital noise sample and includes a pixel value of a pixel selected from the digital image. The digital noise sample is represented as a matrix composed of 0 and 1. The method compares the sub-matrix with the digital noise sample to determine whether or not all values in the sub-matrix and the digital noise sample are the same. If all values are the same, the method further searches 1 from the sub-matrix for locating digital noise of the digital image, and removes the digital noise of the digital image by changing the pixel values of the digital noise from 1 to 0.

Abstract: An image processing system and method for comparing two monochromic images A2 and B2 is provided. The system and method thins objects in the monochromic image B2 so as to generate a skeleton image B3, thickens the objects in the monochromic image A2 to generate a bold image A4, and overlays the skeleton image B3 with the bold image A4 so as to generate an overlaid image AB1. The system and method further thins the objects in the monochromic image A2 so as to generate a skeleton image A3, thickens the objects in the monochromic image B2 to generate a bold image B4, and overlays the skeleton image A3 with the bold image B4 so as to generate an overlaid image AB2. The system and method outputs the overlaid images AB1 and AB2 on a display screen.

Abstract: An image processing system and method for comparing and correcting two monochromic images A2 and B2 is provided. The system and method extracts a skeleton of objects in the monochromic image A2 to generate a skeleton image A3 and extracts a skeleton of objects in the monochromic image B2 to generate a skeleton image B3. The system and method then covers the skeleton image A3 with the monochromic image B2 to generate a covered image A4, and covers the skeleton image B3 with the monochromic image A2 to generate a covered image B4. The system and method further corrects allowable variances in the covered images A4 and B4, and outputs the covered images whose variances have been corrected.

Abstract: The invention provides a data storage system. In one embodiment, the data storage system comprises a host and a flash storage device. The host sends a series of first access commands for accessing a plurality of special files to the flash storage device. The flash storage device having the stored plurality of special files and a command-symbol mapping table, sequentially generates a plurality of first digits respectively corresponding to the special files accessed by the first access commands to obtain a first data stream, converts the first data stream to a plurality of first special commands according to the command-symbol mapping table, and performs operations according to the first special commands. Each of the special files corresponds to a digit, the command-symbol mapping table records a corresponding relationship between a plurality of symbols and a plurality of special commands, and each of the symbols comprises a plurality of digits.

Abstract: An image retrieval method applies an application server, one or more calculating servers, and a sorting server to perform image retrieval. The application server extracts visual features of an exemplary image. The one or more calculating servers calculate similarities of available images according to the visual features of the exemplary image. The sorting server sorts the available images according to the similarities so as to obtain images similar to the exemplary image.

Abstract: An image comparison method compares a reference image with a test image. Each image includes objects and a background. The method generates a skeleton image of the reference image. The skeleton image of the reference image is compared with the test image so as to determine if the reference image have more objects or objects parts than the test image. Similarly, a skeleton image of the test image is generated. The skeleton image of the test image is compared with the reference image so as to determine if the test image have more objects or objects parts than the reference image.

Abstract: A method for managing access control list of computer systems includes the steps of receiving a user account login request of accessing an application system; validating the user account login request; obtaining a user access list of the user account from the database server if the user account login request is valid; loading the user access list of the user account in the management server temporarily, and creating a user identification; granting access rights to the user account to the application system according to the access list of the user account. A related system is also disclosed.

Abstract: A computer-based method for visually generating an XQuery document include: opening a Web page, the Web page is an HTML document and consists of different basic components; converting the Web page into an HTML DOM; expressing the contents of the Web page with visually editable basic components; selecting needed basic components from the visually editable Web page; searching nodes corresponding to the selected basic components in the HTML DOM, searching parent nodes of the nodes by adopting a recursion method in the HTML DOM until a root node of the HTML DOM is obtained; generating XPath expressions of the selected basic components according to the nodes locations in the HTML DOM; incorporating the XPath expressions into an XQuery document according to relationship of the nodes locations corresponding to the XPath expressions in the HTML DOM. A system for visually generating an XQuery document is also disclosed.

Abstract: A system for using XQuery files as a middleware to provide Web services is provided. The system includes a Web server. The Web server includes: an XQuery file definition module 410 programmed for defining an XQuery file, including defining input parameters for accepting data from data sources and defining addresses of the data sources; an XQuery file parsing module programmed for extracting the input parameters from the XQuery file and parsing the XQuery file according to the input parameters to create a source file of the Web service; a compiling module programmed for compiling the source file to an executable file of the Web service; and a WSDL file generating module programmed for generating a WSDL file of the Web service according to the executable file. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: A method for retrieving data, the method comprising the steps of: defining output parameters of an application server (20); defining an XQuery file for retrieving data from different types of data sources (10); providing a Web service executable file that is accessible by an application program installed in a client (50) that supports the Web service corresponding to the executable file; accessing the Web service executable file, and sending parameters of search requests to the Web service executable file; invoking the XQuery file according to the parameters of the search requests, and retrieving data from the data sources according to the XQuery file; and converting the searched data into the output parameters sent to the application program. Abstract: A system for recording timesheet entry data of employees is provided. The system includes at least one client computer and an application server. Each client computer includes a timesheet entry data inserting module used for receiving timesheet entry data input by an employee, attaching the timesheet entry data to the email, and sending the email with the timesheet entry attachment to a preset timesheet mailbox after the user sends out the email. The application server is used for accessing the preset timesheet mailbox periodically to obtain timesheet entry data of various employees, which are attached to different emails, and inserting the attached data to a database.

Abstract: A method for managing access control list of computer systems includes the steps of receiving a user account login request of accessing an application system; validating the user account login request; obtaining a user access list of the user account from the database server if the user account login request is valid; loading the user access list of the user account in the management server temporarily, and creating a user identification; granting access rights to the user account to the application system according to the access list of the user account. The method includes the steps of: receiving a search request for searching specified data; searching a permanent cache that stores data for the specified data; determining whether the specified data are stored in the permanent cache; searching Web sites for the specified data if the specified data are not stored in the permanent cache; determining whether any specified data are acquired from the Web sites; defining permanent cache criteria for selecting the specified data acquired from the Web sites if the specified data are acquired from the Web sites; determining whether the specified data acquired from the Web sites meet the permanent cache criteria; and storing the specified data into the permanent cache if the specified data meet the permanent cache criteria. Abstract: A system for electronic document control includes a server computer (1), a Domino database (3), and a plurality of client computers (2). The server computer includes a Word document obtaining module (20), a Word document converting module (30), and a purview controlling module (40). The Word document obtaining module is used for obtaining a Microsoft Word document from any of the client computers. The Word document converting module is used for converting the Word document to a Notes document and storing the Notes document in the Domino database, analyzing directory structures of the Word document, distilling title types of the Word document and generating directory tree structures of the Word document, and for storing the directory tree structures and contents of the Word document in the Domino database. The purview controlling module is used for controlling accessing and printing purviews of the Notes document.

Abstract: An omnibearing display, having a display face, with the blanking element in front of the display face, is rotated with a high speed by a rotation actuating mechanism to cyclically and repeatedly appear to eyes of an observer around the display face within a duration of persistence of vision. This results in an effect that observers at any positions around the display face will see the same display face within the duration of persistence of vision, namely, the omnibearing display effect.
