    Abstract: A scene identification method, a control device, a movable platform and a computer-readable storage medium are provided, the method includes: controlling a probing device to emit probing light to detect a current scene; the probing device including an area-array photoelectric sensor; when the area-array photoelectric sensor receives a reflected echo of the probing light, obtaining multiple signals output by multiple photoelectric units of the area-array photoelectric sensor; identifying whether the current scene is a target scene based on signal parameters of the multiple signals, where the target scene at least includes a water surface scene. The scene identification steps are simple, facilitating rapid acquisition of scene identification results.

    Abstract: A passive-phase-detection photothermal spectroscopy (PTS) system and methods are provided for gas measurements. The PTS system includes a pump laser source, a probe laser source, the pump and probe laser beams simultaneously propagating through an optical waveguide having a target gas specimen. Moreover, the PTS system can be based on a heterodyne detection scheme and includes a combiner configured to align light input from a local oscillator with the probe laser beam output from the optical waveguide to output to a photodetector that is configured to generate beat notes. A lock-in phase detector and a lock-in amplitude detector is configured to detect and measure a photothermal signal based on the beat notes received from the photodetector for gas measurements. The PTS system can also be based on a core-cladding-mode interference detection scheme and generates the core mode and cladding mode simultaneously for the probe laser in the waveguide.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein that improve grid performance by smoothing demand using thermal reserves. The smoothed demand can reduce peak loads as well as the ramp rate of demand that will otherwise require the use of inefficient, expensive generation sources. These improvements are tied to the selective switching on or off electrical loads that are coupled to thermal reserves, effectively using the thermal reserves as an energy storage mechanism. Historical data of past usage can be used to create load model and ensure that effects on customer comfort are minimized while still accomplishing the beneficial effects for the overall grid, which enables grid owners to both reduce their operational cost by avoiding expensive generation and improve system reliability by achieving more predictable power demand.

    Abstract: A system and methods for amplified broadband photoacoustic detection of multi-species with high sensitivity are provided. The system is configured to simultaneously amplify the intensity of acoustic waves and optical waves with a series of frequencies and includes dual frequency combs as the optical pump covering broadband spectral features of molecules. A high-finesse optical resonator is configured to amplify the power of the frequency combs and an acoustic resonator is configured with multiple microphones, providing broadband and flat-top frequency response to amplify the light-absorption-induced acoustic waves. The signals of the microphones are summed by a low-noise circuit and processed by a Fast Fourier Transform method to obtain multiple frequency components, resulting in multi-species and sensitive photoacoustic detection in a compact gas chamber.
