  • Publication number: 20220030308
Abstract: A method of streaming remotely located content, performed at a client device, comprises: communicating with a plurality of servers each of which hosts multiple copies of the content, said copies being encoded at different respective bitrates and each being divided into a plurality of segments that are arranged according to a time sequence; and requesting a concurrent download of a set of segments from a group of download servers that is at least a subset of the plurality of servers; wherein respective segments in the set are downloaded from different servers in the group of download servers, said segments being consecutive in the time sequence.

  • Publication number: 20150208103
Abstract: There is provided a system for enabling user control of a live video stream, the system including: a processing module for obtaining offset data for each of a plurality of encoded video segments having a number of different resolutions of the live video stream, the offset data indicative of offsets of video elements in the encoded video segment; a storage medium for storing the encoded video segments and the corresponding offset data; a segment management module for receiving messages from the processing module relating to the availability of the encoded video segments and facilitating streaming of the encoded video segments to the user based on said offset data; and a user interface module for receiving a user request from a user with respect to the live video stream and communicating with the segment management module for streaming the encoded video segments to the user based on the user request.

  • Patent number: 6320600
Abstract: A Web-based video-editing system using a high-performance multimedia software library having a toolkit, the toolkit being a set of reusable, high-performance primitives and abstractions that are at an intermediate level of abstraction between C and conventional libraries. By decomposing common multimedia data types and operations into thin abstractions and primitives, programs written using the toolkit achieve performance competitive with hand-tuned C code, but which are shorter and more reusable. The toolkit programs can employ optimizations that are difficult to exploit in C and are impossible to use in conventional libraries.
