    Abstract: This application discloses a protection circuit associated with a battery management system (BMS). The protection circuit includes a first protection module and a freewheeling module. The first protection module is connected in parallel to a first switch module of the BMS, and the freewheeling module is connected in parallel to a load module of the BMS. The first protection module switches to a charging state when the first switch module is turned off to stabilize a voltage between a first terminal of the first switch module and a second terminal of the first switch module. The freewheeling module is turned on when the first switch module is turned off to stabilize a voltage between the first switch module and the second switch module. The protection circuit mitigates risks of breakdown of the first switch module, and prevents a parasitic inductance from limiting a switching frequency of the first switch module.

    Abstract: A computer-implemented method for providing merchant recommendations comprises receiving, by a processor, raw merchant embeddings generated from payment transaction records, wherein the raw merchant embeddings include a plurality of embedded features entangled in an embedding space. The processor uses transaction metadata associated with the payment transaction records to determine a subspace of an identified feature within the embedding space. A linear transformation process then removes the subspace of the identified feature from the embedding space to create modified merchant embeddings that are merged and aligned with other ones of the plurality of features within the embedding space. The processor automatically generates a list of merchant rankings based on the modified merchant embeddings, past preferences of a target user using raw user embeddings, and a target region, and provides the list of merchant rankings to the target user.

    Abstract: Steering mechanisms for use in RSS systems may be devoid of an elastomeric piston seal. Pistons of the steering mechanisms have a convex cross-section that permit the piston to pivot along with a steering pad while moving laterally or radially along a piston axis defined by a piston bore. Hydraulic pressure may be maintained as the pad is extended since a limited gap size between the piston and the bore may be maintained throughout the motion of the pistons. The pistons may be retained to the steering pad in a T-slot and may be elongated in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the piston bore. A groove may be provided around the piston for a receiving a back-up seal therein. The back-up seal may include wear resistant balls embedded in a matrix, and balls may be preloaded to serve as flow restrictors even when worn.
