Abstract: The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to decode modulated data. A modulated signal is received. A format of the modulated signal is determined, wherein the format can include a first format comprising a first type of modulated signal, or a second format comprising the first type of modulated signal and a second type of modulated signal that is different than the first type. The modulated signal is decoded by determining a frequency shift amount based on the format of the modulated signal, shifting a frequency band of the first type of modulated signal from an original position to a shifted position, thereby shifting a center frequency of the first type of modulated signal by the frequency shift amount, and filtering, based on the format of the modulated signal, signals outside of the frequency band of the shifted first type of modulated signal.

Abstract: A system and method for signal processing in a cable modem termination system (CMTS) is provided. A CMTS receiver in communication with a plurality of cable modems at a upstream signal or a cable modem receiver in communication with the CMTS at a downstream signal. A plurality of Advanced Time Division Multiple Access (“ATDMA”) channel processors include a filter for recovering an ATDMA signal and a Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (“OFDM”) channel processor includes a filter for processing a combined OFDM and ATDMA signal. A summation module subtracts the ATDMA signal from the combined ATDMA and OFDM signal to obtain a clean OFDM signal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing fiber node splits in DOCSIS cable systems by performing remote modulation and/or demodulation in the fiber node. In the downstream direction, a high-speed digital fiber optic interface can be used to send data from the CMTS to the fiber node, which then modulates the data onto separate downstream interfaces for subsequent distribution of the downstream data to CMs and/or STBs. In the upstream direction, different upstream interfaces from the CMs and/or STBs may be demodulated into digital streams which can then be combined into a single, time division multiplexed digital stream that is transmitted to the CMTS. As such, the modulation and demodulation functions are performed remotely in the fiber node instead of at the CMTS.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the fabrication of composite palladium or palladium alloy membranes. The surface of the porous ceramic substrate is modified with pencil to create a uniform and smooth layer, and the membrane is deposited via electroless plating. The advantages of the pencil modification are a reduction of the substrate surface roughness and a repair of substrate surface defects, which leads to a great improvement in the membrane uniformity and hydrogen permeation performances. This method is facile and economic, and it is especially effective on low-cost macroporous ceramic substrate materials. Furthermore, this method generates almost no pollution and therefore is environmentally benign.
