  • Publication number: 20110233086
Abstract: Washing machine shipping systems that inhibit movement of one or more moveable component with respect to one or more stationary component of a washing machine during shipping and handling of the washing machine. The shipping systems engage a moveable component, such as a motor or a basket, to substantially prevent side-to-side and/or vertical movement of the moveable component with respect to a stationary component, such as a cabinet or frame, during shipment. In an exemplary embodiment, the shipping system is removed from the washing machine for installation of the washing machine at the consumer's residence. In some exemplary embodiments, the washing machine system engages an outer surface of an external rotor of a motor to substantially prevent side-to-side and/or vertical movement of the motor with respect to the washing machine cabinet.

  • Publication number: 20110139289
Abstract: A method of manufacturing flexible insulated duct includes wrapping a substantially flexible tubular core with a layer of insulation. A substantially flexible outer layer is wrapped about the layer of insulation such that longitudinal edges of the outer layer circumferentially overlap to define a longitudinally extending seam. The overlapping longitudinal edges of longitudinally extending seam in the outer layer are bonded together, thereby forming the flexible insulated duct. The flexible insulated duct is then cut to a discrete length and installed at a job site.

  • Publication number: 20110061311
Abstract: A roof structure of a building that has a pair of rafter beams and a pair of eave struts extending between and connected to the rafter beams includes a plurality of first banding strips. The first banding strips have opposite distal ends extending between and connected to the rafter beams. A plurality of second banding strips has opposite distal ends extending between and connected to the eave struts. A support sheet is supported on the first and second banding strips, and a shock absorbing member is attached between the support sheet and one of the rafter beams or the eave struts.

  • Patent number: 7281622
Abstract: A conveyor assembly is configured to convey and maintain compression of multiple compressible batts. Adjacent pairs of conveyor systems within the conveyor assembly define a space between the pair of conveyor systems for receiving and conveying compressible batts. Each pair of adjacent conveyor systems has at least two upper belts in a coplanar relationship. One of the two upper belts travels in an advancing direction and other upper belt travels in a returning direction. Each pair of adjacent conveyor systems also has at least two lower belts in a coplanar relationship. One of the lower belts travels in the advancing direction and the other lower belt travels in the returning direction.

  • Patent number: 6851941
Abstract: An improved apparatus for curing fibrous insulation material includes an oven, and a lower conveyor mounted to travel through the oven. The lower conveyor includes a plurality of flights having a support surface for supporting fibrous insulation material. An upper conveyor is mounted to travel through the oven and has a plurality of flights opposite the flights of the lower conveyor. Each flight of the upper conveyor includes a support surface. The upper and lower conveyors are arranged to press the fibrous insulation material between the respective support surfaces as the conveyors carry the fibrous insulation material through the oven. A plurality of molding members are configured to mold a shape into a surface of the fibrous insulation material, and are releasably retained on the flights by a plurality of retaining members. The retaining members are automatically releasable when the flights are moving, such that the releasing of the retaining members unlocks the molding members from the flights.

  • Patent number: 6357504
Abstract: An insulation product includes an elongated batt of fibrous insulation material, and a facing adhered to a major surface of the batt. The facing is a coextruded polymer film of barrier and bonding (and preferably carrier) layers, with the bonding layer having a softening point lower than the softening point of the barrier layer. The bonding layer can include one or more of ethylene N-butyl acrylate, ethylene methyl acrylate, low density polyethylene and ethylene ethyl acrylate. When the facing has been heated to a temperature above the softening point of the bonding layer, but below the softening point of the barrier layer, the facing is adhered to the batt by the attachment of the bonding layer to the fibers in the batt due to the softening of the bonding layer. The heating can be either conduction heating or ultrasonic heating. For ultrasonic heating, the bonding layer is resonant at a different ultrasonic frequency than the barrier layer.

  • Patent number: 6221464
Abstract: An insulation assembly includes an elongated batt of fibrous insulation material having two opposed major surfaces, where the batt has a first facing secured on its first major surface. The first facing extends beyond the side edges of the batt to form opposed flanges suitable for attaching the insulation assembly to a building structure. The batt has a second facing secured on its second major surface, with the second facing extending beyond the side edges of the batt to form opposed flanges suitable for attaching the insulation assembly to a building structure. The method of making an insulation assembly includes moving a pack of fibrous insulation material along a path, where the fibrous insulation material has two opposed major surfaces. A continuous encapsulation material is applied to the pack, and a portion of the encapsulation material is continuously gathered to form a two part fold.
