The control method for the television includes the following steps of: obtaining motion track points of a moving target and fitting the motion track points into a motion curve; calculating angle information corresponding to the motion track points on the motion curve; judging whether the angle information corresponding to a first track point in the motion track points and the angle information corresponding to a second track point in the motion track points are in the same preset range, wherein the first and second track points are adjacent; and when the angle information corresponding to the first track point and the angle information corresponding to the second track point are not in the same preset range, generating a control instruction to control the action of the television. By the present invention, a user can conveniently control the television by utilizing gestures.
