  • Publication number: 20070134570
Abstract: A photoconductor with a charge transport layer having about 20-25% by weight of 4-N,N-bis(4-methylphenyl)-amino-benzaldehyde-N?,N?-diphenylhydrazone is in an essentially standard resin binder, such as a polycarbonate resin binder. Electrical characteristics are those of the larger amounts using conventional charge transport agents, and the larger amount of binder provides much improved wear resistance and consequently longer useful life of the photoconductor. Charge transport layers with only the foregoing bis-methyl material do exhibit moderate fatigue upon exposure to light. However, this can be overcome by adding 0.5% or less of a fluorenyl-azine as a light absorber, specifically 9-(p-diethylaminobenzylidenehydrazono)fluorene, in the charge transport layer. No antioxidant is required for electrical stability improvement.

  • Patent number: 6881272
Abstract: A method for recycling photoconductors is disclosed. In this method, the charge transport layer is selectively removed from the photoconductor without adversely affecting the electrical properties of the charge generating layer. The recycled drum may then be recoated with a new charge transport layer and reused in an electrophotographic process. In this method, the photoconductor to be recycled is placed in a specifically selected solvent, such as a dibasic ester, and is subjected to ultrasonic energy, preferably for a period not to exceed about 15 minutes.

  • Publication number: 20020122998
Abstract: A photoconductor having a charge transport layer in illustrative embodiments of a polycarbonate binder, 30 to 60 percent by weight DEH hydrazone, 0.5 percent to 5 percent acetosol yellow, and 0.5 percent to 5 percent by weight of the butylated reaction product of p-cresol and dicyclopentadiene. The charge generation layer by type IV oxotitanium phthalocyanine in polyvinylbutyral, poly (methyl-phenyl) siloxane and polyhydroxystyrene. Light fatigue is largely eliminated while the physical and cost advantages of DEH are realized.
