  • Patent number: 8856854
Abstract: A processor for a cable television set-top box has an interface for coupling the processor to a second processor. The processor also has a port that is coupleable to control a tuner, a demodulator and a DOCSIS module with or without DSG support. The tuner has an output coupled to the demodulator input, and the demodulator has an output to the DOCSIS module input. The demodulator's output is also coupled to a conditional access module controlled by the second processor. The processor issues commands via the port to control at least one of the tuner and the demodulator based on instructions received via the interface from the second processor.

  • Patent number: 8837494
Abstract: Various embodiments are disclosed for encoding and decoding VLAN identifiers. One such method includes mapping the VLAN identifier, associated with the frame, to a number of extra bytes. The method also includes appending, to the payload, a quantity of bytes equal to the number of extra bytes. The method also includes setting at least one of the appended bytes to a value of a length provided with the frame. The method also includes transmitting the frame, including the appended bytes.

  • Patent number: 8475356
Abstract: An implantable device for selectively controlling defecation has an outer body defining on one end a flange that is surgically attachable to the person's anus and/or tissue adjacent to the anus. A connector is mounted on the other end of the outer body and is secured to the distal end of the person's large intestine for connecting the large intestine in fluid communication with the device. An inner body is slidably received within the outer body. A macerator-type pump is mounted within the inner body and an inlet valve is mounted between the pump and the connector. An actuator in the form of an RF receiver is electrically coupled to the inlet valve and the pump and a remote transmitter is operatively coupled to the receiver. The receiver is responsive to control signals received from the transmitter to open the inlet valve and operate the pump in order to move fecal matter through the device.

  • Patent number: 6752754
Abstract: An implantable device for selectively controlling defecation has an outer body defining on one end a flange that is surgically attachable to the patient's anus and/or tissue adjacent to the anus. A connector is mounted on the other end of the outer body and is secured to the distal end of the patient's large intestine for connecting the large intestine in fluid communication with the artificial rectum.
