  • Patent number: 8462783
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a node device for transferring a message based on MPLS TE tunnels. The main principle of the embodiments is to determine a switching node at which MPLS TE tunnel switching is needed, and to set routing and forwarding information for tunnel switching between different MPLS TE tunnels at the switching node. The switching node switches and transfers message into different MPLS TE tunnels according to the routing and forwarding information. The present invention makes the sum of the whole network edge bandwidth resources much higher than that of the bandwidth resource at the network core, allows the network resources to converge layer by layer, and avoids the N-square problem of the tunnel number effectively and lightens the load on the network core nodes by the large number of tunnels and the load of RSVP-TE state refreshing.

  • Patent number: 8009671
Abstract: A multicast method includes joining a multicast group and forwarding a multicast data packet; during joining the multicast group, establishing multicast forwarding instruction information identified by a MFEC, on a network node of a distribution tree or a distribution sub-tree to which the MFEC pertains; and during forwarding the multicast data packet, forwarding multicast data packets of the same MFEC, according to the multicast forwarding instruction information. The invention further discloses a multicast method, including: classifying a collection of multicast data packets forwarded in the same mode into a MFEC; statically configuring multicast forwarding instruction information identified by the MFEC on a network node of a distribution tree or a distribution sub-tree to which the MFEC pertains; and forwarding the multicast data packets of the same MFEC, according to the multicast forwarding instruction information. The invention further discloses a multicast routing method.

  • Patent number: 7411955
Abstract: A 3-layer Virtual Private Network (VPN) is disclosed and includes P devices and PE devices in the backbone network, a plurality of sites and CE devices in subscribers' VPNs, and Hierarchy of PE (HoPE) devices, the HoPE devices serve as edge routers in the backbone network and are connected to P devices in the backbone network as well as sites and CE devices in subscribers' VPNs; the HoPE devices include understratum PEs (UPEs), zero or more middle-level PEs (MPEs) and superior PEs (SPEs) connected with each other, and all of the PEs (UPEs, MPEs, and SPEs) take different roles and deliver the function of a central PE. For the SPEs, the routing and forwarding performance should be relatively higher; while for UPEs, the performance may be lower. The architecture can enhance the expandability in hierarchical BGP/MPLS VPNs.

  • Publication number: 20070165530
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method of traffic management in a Multi-Protocol Switching (MPLS) network. The method includes: setting a management tag on the outer layer of service traffic data carried in an MPLS packet when the MPLS packet is sent initially; and upon receiving the MPLS packet, identifying the service traffic data carried in the MPLS packet according to the management tag set in the MPLS packet, and performing traffic management. Systems and MPLS network devices are also disclosed in embodiments of the present invention. Through the embodiments of the present invention, traffic management in an MPLS network can be implemented.

  • Publication number: 20070140251
Abstract: A method for implementing VPN, including: configuring a static label for a VPN corresponding to a CE connected with a first PE; configuring, in a second PE static routes for reaching a network entity connected with the CE, the destination address of the static route is the network entity address, the next-hop address of any of the static route is the the first PE address, and the static label of the VRF is configured as the label of the static route; upon receiving a message, the second PE searching out a static route containing the destination address, inserting the label in the searched out static route into the message as an inner layer label, and selecting a tunnel to forward the message to the first PE; and on receiving the message, the first PE searching out the VRF and forwarding the message to the network entity.

  • Publication number: 20070133577
Abstract: The present invention discloses a Virtual Private Network (VPN), which includes: a Sub-Provider Edge (SUB_PE), configured in a customer's network and connected with a PE in a provider's network; at least one SUB_VPN belonging to a same customer is configured under the SUB_PE and accesses the provider's network through the SUB_PE. The present invention also discloses a method for controlling and forwarding route of the VPN, including: an SUB_PE or a PE adds an export target attribute of the VPN where it is located to the route before transmitting; after receiving the route, the SUB_PE or the PE compares the export target attribute in the route with the import target attribute saved by itself, if they match, accept the route and forward it to a lower layer VPN; otherwise, reject the route.
