Abstract: An information obtaining method and system is provided, the system may include: a first terminal, a second terminal, and a server, where the first terminal reports position description information of a geographical building associated with a same identifier to a server; and the server determines position information of the geographical building according to the position description information of the geographical building, and obtains, according to the position information of the second terminal sent by the second terminal and the same identifier, the position information of the geographical building that is associated with the same identifier and of which a position relationship with the second terminal meets a preset condition. In this way, the position information of the second terminal and the position description information of the geographical building sent by the first terminal are both located by the server, thereby improving the accuracy of locating the geographical building.
