  • Patent number: 10478142
Abstract: DPC (differential phase contrast) images are acquired for each photon energy channel, which are called spectral DPC images. The final DPC image can be computed by summing up these spectral DPC images or just computed using certain ‘color’ representation algorithms to enhance desired features. In addition, with quasi-monochromatic x-ray source, the required radiation dose is substantially reduced, while the image quality of DPC images remains acceptable.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 21, 2016
Date of Patent: November 19, 2019
    Assignee: University of Rochester
    Inventors: Ruola Ning, Weixing Cai
  • Patent number: 9826949
Abstract: A raw DPC (differential phase contrast) image of an object is acquired. The background phase distribution due to the non-uniformity of the grating system is acquired by the same process without an object in place, and the true DPC image of the object is acquired by subtracting the background phase distribution from the raw DPC image.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 5, 2013
Date of Patent: November 28, 2017
    Assignee: University of Rochester

  • Patent number: 7949095
Abstract: A device for imaging an object, such as for breast imaging, includes a gantry frame having mounted thereon an x-ray source, a source grating, a holder or other place for the object to be imaged, a phase grating, an analyzer grating, and an x-ray detector. The device images objects by differential-phase-contrast cone-beam computed tomography. A hybrid system includes sources and detectors for both conventional and differential-phase-contrast computed tomography.

  • Publication number: 20070274435
Abstract: A cone beam CT imaging system incorporates the phase contrast in-line method, in which the phase coefficient rather than only the attenuation coefficient is used to reconstruct the image. Starting from the interference formula of in-line holography, the terms in the interference formula can be approximately expressed as a line integral that is the requirement for all CBCT algorithms. So, the CBCT reconstruction algorithms, such as the FDK algorithm, can be applied for the in-line holographic projections.
