    Abstract: A method for improving estimation of leaf area index in an early growth stage of wheat based on red-edge bands of Sentinel-2 satellite images includes the following steps: acquiring field background spectrum and wheat canopy spectrum information by means of Sentinel-2; respectively acquiring a “straw-soil” spectrum and a “wheat-straw-soil” spectrum, and calculating slopes of red-edge areas of the “straw-soil” spectrum and the “wheat-straw-soil” spectrum; calculating a tangent function SATF corrected by a background adjustment coefficient ?; constructing a wheat LAI estimation model based on a spectral variable SATFNIR-RE2; performing preliminary screening on the LAI estimation model using cross validation; and then testing the screened model with independent data.

    Abstract: The use of a negative regulator AtRTP5 for increasing the plant resistance to Phytophthora is disclosed. The AtRTP5 gene negatively regulates the plant resistance to Phytophthora by interfering with a plant hormone immune signaling pathway. The AtRTP5 gene has a nucleotide sequence shown as SEQ ID NO: 1 or a homologous sequence having more than 50% homology with the sequence. The use of a protein encoded by a negative regulator AtRTP5 for increasing the plant resistance to Phytophthora is also disclosed. The plant resistance to Phytophthora is enhanced by reducing the expression of the protein encoded by the AtRTP5 gene with genetic engineering. The protein has an amino acid sequence shown as SEQ ID NO: 2 or a homologous sequence having more than 50% homology with the sequence.

The methods include extraction of plant material using a primary organic solvent more polar than ethanol, followed by a solvent extraction using substantially immiscible solvents having substantially different polarities, such as hexane and acetonitrile. The method can include further purification, such as by fractionation of solvent-extracted materials using a thiazole-derivatized silica gel chromatography medium. The extracts thus generated can exhibit greater purity, higher concentration, and greater stability than extracts made using previously-known methods. The extracts can be particularly suitable for use in immunotherapeutic methods, such as desensitizing individuals who normally develop allergic contact dermatitis attributable to poison ivy or poison oak.
