    Abstract: A cable connector compatible to USB 3.0 standard includes an insulative housing having, a number of contacts and an inner circuit board for establishing electrically connection between the contacts and cables. The contacts are divided into a first contact group including a number of first contacts and a second contact group including a number of second contacts. The inner circuit board includes a first soldering area having a number of separated first pads connected to the first and the second contacts. The first pads include a first grounding pad connected to a grounding contact of the second contacts. The second soldering area includes a number of separated second pads connected to the cables. At least two adjacent or separated second pads are electrically connected to the first grounding pad for improving high frequency characteristics.

The front section includes a first locking protrusion having an inclined first guiding surface and a first locking surface. The second contacts include a number of differential signal contacts and ground contacts among which the differential signal contacts are paired and the ground contacts are located at opposite lateral sides of each paired differential signal contacts. The first contacts are ordinally arranged as GGVV, or VGVG, or VVGG, or GVGV, or GVVG, or VGGV, or VSSG, or GSSV. The second contacts are compatible to USB 3.0 protocol for high-speed signal transmission. As a result, it is easy to control the impedance of the whole transmission system so as to decrease signal attenuation and signal reflection.

The second soldering section of the grounding contact is of a forked manner and includes at least a first branch and a second branch. As a result, it is more effective to solder the second soldering section of the grounding contact with a cable without any manual alignment work.

The metal shell is mounted on and covers the insulator. The spring finger (75) is formed integrate with the metal shell and extends inwards, and the spring finger passes through the through-hole to electrically connect with the shielding braid of the coaxial cable.

The latch is received and held in the recess of the insulator, and comprises a holding portion (41) received in the arm portion for holding the latch in the insulator, an engaging portion (42) extending forwards from the front of the holding portion and received in the guide post for engaging with a complementary connector, a spring portion (43) extending outwards and forwards from the rear of the holding portion, and a driving portion (442) extending forwards from the spring portion to approach the engaging portion so as to drive the engaging portion by pressure. The button is mounted on the spring portion and covers the latch.
