Abstract: Disclosed methods include sending, from a resource manager, network configuration information to each of one or more managed resources. The network configuration information may include an IP address for the resource manager, an IP address for each of the managed resources, and a predetermined timeout value. Network configurations for the resource manager and the one or more managed resources may then be set after which each managed resource may start a timer with the predetermined timeout value. If the resource manager detects successful completion of each of the network configuration operations, the resource manager may send a stop timer command to each of the managed resources. If a timeout occurs, the timeout will inform each of the managed resources that the change in network configuration was not entirely successful. The resource manager and each of the managed resources will then restore their network configurations to their previous configurations.

Abstract: Disclosed methods provision a host with a pair of proxy resources. A first proxy resource may be configured to forward traffic from an in-band management interface of the host to a link-local interface of a BMC or the like. The second proxy resource is configured to forward traffic received via a link-local interface of the host to a management network interface of a cluster manager. Upon receiving an event subscription message from the cluster manager via the in-band management interface of the host, the event subscription message is forwarded by the first proxy to the link-local interface of the BMC to register a link-local interface of the host as a subscriber for one or more events. Responsive to receiving an event notification from the BMC via the link-local interface of the host, the event notification is automatically forwarded to the management network interface of the cluster manager.

Abstract: A data storage device includes a memory used to store device identification information, wherein the data storage device is operable to communication with an electronic device to receive the device identification information sent from the electronic device and to store the device identification information in the memory, and wherein the data storage device is operable to provide a hardware-switching device with the device identification information from the memory. A method for identifying multiple electronic devices includes providing, for each electronic device, a corresponding data storage device communicating with a hardware-switching device and storing device identification information related to each electronic device in the corresponding data storage device.

Abstract: A method includes a firmware layer of a computing device receiving data input via a data input device, the received data being inaccessible by an operating system layer of the computing device, the data is to be sent to a remote server, and the firmware layer being independent of the operating system layer. The method further includes the firmware layer encrypting the received data, and the operating system layer sending the encrypted data to the remote server. A computing device includes a data input device, an operating system layer, and a firmware layer, wherein the computing device is capable of performing the method.
