    Abstract: A resident measurement system for a charge level of a blast furnace includes a chamber, a servo system, a distance measurement unit, and a cooling-cleaning unit. The chamber is combined with a lateral furnace wall of the blast-furnace, covers an opening of the furnace wall, and has a pivoting hole. A pivot of the distance measurement unit is pivotally disposed at the pivoting hole, and the distance measurement unit is driven by the servo system to perform a motion with the pivot as a movement center, so as to measure the charge level. The cooling-cleaning unit is used to supply a high-pressure gas, which flows through the distance measurement unit to perform cooling and cleansing operations.

The step of providing a computer connects the 3-D laser scanner to a computer having a point group analysis program. The step of calculating an outline of the top reactant stratum from the PGD is performed by the point group analysis program to calculate an outline of the top reactant stratum in the blast furnace from the PGD. At least one two-dimensional laser scanner is used to measure a path of the reactant being charged.

    Abstract: A platform to implement a Chinese input method consists of the following components: 1. A Keypad. 2. A cascade Multi-Window, 3. A Sentence Editing Buffer. 4. An Attribute Viewing Window. 5. A Text Accumulation Window. 6. A two-level phrase set refining control window. The keypads are designed based on the lexical structures of the Zhu-Yin and Pin-Yin phonetic systems. Efficient mouse operations have been designed to enter phonetic symbol strings. The Multi-Window can present a great many candidate words and phrases. It allows a user to browse on its multi pages without mouse clicking. A two-phase sentence generation procedure relieves users from the burden of sentence segmentation and creates the possibility of harvesting system supplied longer generalized phrases.

    Abstract: An adaptive record ranking method for full text information retrieval, which quantifies the relevance of retrieved records to query terms occurring in said record. The method utilizes a multilevel weighting technique which permits user input to affect record weighting at each level of the ranking process. The method utilizes weighted attributes of properties of terms occurring in the records of the data base and compensates for the distance between adjacent words of complex terms. The method has been implemented on large full text data bases and the resulting rankings achieve a relatively high level of precision in ranking the relevance of retrieved records to a user query.
