  • Patent number: 8187813
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for amplifying a nucleic acid sequence by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The method comprises placing a PCR sample in a container which is heated by only a single heat source that provides a high temperature for denaturation in the bottom of the PCR sample, while annealing and extension automatically occur in different regions of the PCR sample due to the convection induced by a temperature gradient descending from the bottom of the PCR sample to the surface of the PCR sample.

  • Publication number: 20070030026
Abstract: A multiple-time programming apparatus and method using one-time programming (OTP) elements are provided. The apparatus comprises a first adjusting OTP element, a second adjusting OTP element and a calculation device. An adjusting data is written into the first adjusting OTP element. When a modification in an IC is desired, the difference between a desired data and the prior adjusting data is written into the second adjusting OTP element. The calculation device adds the first OTP signal outputted from the first adjusting OTP element and the second OTP signal outputted from second adjusting OTP element, and outputs the resulting OTP signal with desired value. Thus, the apparatus and the method according to an embodiment of the present invention allow modification of data using the OTP elements that prevents from using expensive multiple-time programming elements.

  • Patent number: 6247075
Abstract: A mouse interface converter is provided, which allows a mouse to be connectable to a computer system, such as a personal computer (PC), installed with either an RS-232 serial port or a PS/2 port. This mouse interface converter allows the mouse to be connected directly to PS/2 port and via an adapter to RS-232 serial port. The mouse interface converter includes a mode-detection circuit for detecting which type of port the mouse is currently being connected. The mode-detection circuit can generate a mode-indicating signal indicative of the type of the currently connected port, which is then used to set a control circuit to convert the mouse data to the corresponding format. The mouse interface converter further includes a driving circuit that allows the mouse to be more compatible with various signals of either the PS/2 port or the RS-232 serial port. This feature allows the mouse to be considerably reduced in power consumption that allows the mouse to be suitable for use on notebook computers.
