  • Patent number: 8103840
Abstract: A snapshot mechanism and a method thereof used in a data processing system are provided to backup snapshot data. The snapshot mechanism includes a snapshot storage unit and a buffer storage unit, wherein the snapshot storage unit is used as a unit for storing data generated after a target storage unit snapshots data and accordingly generating a plurality of snapshot management data. In addition, the buffer storage unit temporarily stores new data and flushes the data to the target storage unit in predetermined time interval. According to the snapshot management data, the target storage unit can be rolled back or rolled forward to the status before a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 7948890
Abstract: Communication devices and methods are proposed for providing communication channel. In one example, devices and methods are capable of reaching one or more terminals that are not in a public network. In addition, depending on the network or the networks that the terminals are located, some examples may be capable of establishing a less indirect or a direct communication channel between two terminals after they communicate through an intermediate system. In another example, a triggering packet may be sent to provide a binding at an interface of a private network, such as an NAT, thereby reducing or eliminating communication through a relay server.

  • Patent number: 7464239
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and a system for remote mirror data backup over a network. The system comprises a local domain site and at least one remote domain site, wherein each site has one domain mirror agent and one storage server system thereon. Each storage server system includes one or more storage servers, and one of the domain mirror agents is predefined as the master mirror agent. With such a remote mirror system, the method performs the operations of virtual mirror device allocation, mirror operation, data consistency check, third mirror allocation, and recovery of local storage device. The present invention expands the conventional logical volume management (LVM) to a network environment, effectively improving the backup/recovery capability of remote mirroring.

  • Patent number: 7174374
Abstract: The present invention discloses a multi-priority media access control method for a multi-channel slotted ring network. In the slotted ring networks, each node has one tunable transmitter and one fixed receiver for data channels, and is able to inspect slot status on all channels. The header slot format defines the slot priorities on ring networks and limits which packets can be transmitted through the slots. By assigning slot priority based on two thresholds to raise and lower slot priority, multiple priority packets can be transmitted.
