  • Patent number: 10668996
Abstract: A structural block is fabricated with necessary components and structure for LNG storage and/or process. The structural block may be an LNG tank with the same configuration as that in an LNG carrier. The structural block may also be a regasification plant or a liquefaction plant to be used for LNG process. An existing vessel, e.g. an LNG carrier, is cut apart to form a forward section and an aft section. The forward section and the aft section are moved away from each other to form a space therebetween. The structural block is then placed into the space and jointed to the forward and aft sections, by welding for example, to form an integrated new vessel. The structural block provides the new vessel with increased LNG storage and transportation capabilities as well as regasification and/or liquefaction process facilities to meet the increased demand for LNG storage, transportation and processing.

  • Patent number: 9863696
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a process for liquefaction of a natural gas. The process includes cooling the natural gas with a first refrigerant provided by a first cooling system and cooling the natural gas with a second refrigerant provided by a second cooling system. The second cooling system is a single phase cooling system. The first and second cooling systems operate independently from each other. The second refrigerant is cooled with the first refrigerant so that the cooling capacity of the second refrigerant and the second cooling system is increased.

  • Publication number: 20150204603
Abstract: The present invention provides an LNG production system and method with improved refrigeration. The refrigeration is achieved by a refrigeration device comprising a plurality of refrigerant compressors (11, 13, 15, 17) configured into a series arrangement to perform multi-stage compressions of a refrigerant, a plurality of aftercoolers (12, 14, 16, 18) each of which being coupled to each of the plurality of refrigerant compressors to cool the compressed refrigerant, a plurality of turboexpanders (19, 20) coupled to the last aftercooler (18) and configured into a series configuration to perform multi-stage expansions of the compressed refrigerant, and a plurality of refrigerant heat exchange means (33, 34) coupled to both the first (11) of the plurality of refrigerant compressors and the last (20) of the plurality of turboexpanders, so that all components form a close refrigeration cycle.

  • Patent number: 9004102
Abstract: Disclosed are various apparatus and method for transferring a hydrocarbon fluid between two bodies. To this purpose, a transfer skid and transfer hoses are moved from a first body to a second body to be installed thereupon to provide fluid communication between the two bodies. Offloading of hydrocarbon fluid may then take place between the two bodies. Emergency release operation may be triggered during the offloading, where the transfer hoses are disconnected from the transfer skid, and are returned to the first body. Various features of the transfer skid and associated apparatus allow the transfer skid to be installed on the second body with improved mating connections, transfer hoses to be returned to the first body after offloading operation without hydrocarbon fluid leakage, and transfer hoses to disconnect with speed and safety during emergency release operation.

  • Patent number: 8864420
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for limiting structural damage to an affected offshore platform and preventing damage spread from the affected offshore platform to another platform during an accident or an emergency condition. An offshore platform arrangement includes a mobile offshore production unit (MOPU), a mobile storage platform and a mobile offloading platform which are disposed at a clearance distance from one another. The platforms are fluidly connected by pipes to allow hydrocarbon fluid transfer therebetween. The pipes are adapted to cease fluid communication of hydrocarbon fluid between platforms for preventing damage spread therebetween. Also disclosed is an offloading system for hydrocarbon fluid transfer which includes a lifting system having an extendable lifting arm and a spreader frame platform rotatably coupled to the lifting arm. The spreader frame platform is operable to support a transfer skid and allow angular adjustment of the transfer skid in a horizontal plane.

  • Publication number: 20110182698
Abstract: Methods and systems disclosed provide a cost efficient supply chain for natural gas, thereby enabling monetization of smaller natural gas sources and supply of natural gas to regions with low demand. The method comprises transferring a hydrocarbon fluid to a production location, liquefying the hydrocarbon fluid, storing the hydrocarbon fluid in a plurality of transferable containers, moving the plurality of transferable containers having the hydrocarbon fluid from the production location to a marine vessel, transporting the plurality of transferable containers having the hydrocarbon fluid on the marine vessel, and offloading the hydrocarbon fluid at an import location. At the import location, the transferable containers may be moved from the marine vessel to the import location and distributed at least one vehicle from the import terminal to one or more user locations for vaporizing the liquefied fluid at the user location(s).

  • Publication number: 20110170988
Abstract: A cargo transfer system for transferring cargo between two decks which may be subject to relative movements between each other is disclosed. The cargo transfer system includes a transverse member movably coupled to an elevated portion of a first deck (or a tower member on the first deck), and a side member movably coupled to the transverse member. In a deployment position, the side member is releasably coupled with a receiving base on the second deck. The cargo transfer system is actuatable by a relative movement between the first deck and the second deck to self-adjust for accommodating or countering the relative movement.
