  • Patent number: 4461525
Abstract: A test socket which is for an integrated circuit device and which includes clamp wings pivotally mounted to the socket frame side faces. Each clamp wing includes conductive biased leads terminating in contacts which overlie and contact the leads of the integrated circuit device, serving to retain the device within the socket frame while completing an electrical circuit between a printed circuit board and the integrated circuit device.

Date of Patent: July 24, 1984
    Assignee: Wells Electronics, Inc.
    Inventor: Wendell L. Griffin
  • Patent number: 4378139
Abstract: An electrical connector which is for accommodating integrated circuit carriers and which includes opposed latches used to secure the carrier to the connector frame by individual over-center securement.

  • Patent number: 4375309
Abstract: A zero insertion force connector block including a base with side walls, a row of terminals extending along each side wall, a pair of free-floating follower members positioned in the base between the rows of terminals and a rotary cam having cam lobes in the interface between the followers, radial arms extending from the lobes and a handle extending along the block joining the ends of the arms such that rotation of the handle forces the followers apart to stress the terminals and form electrical connections between the terminals and leads inserted into the block.

  • Patent number: 4257674
Abstract: A splice for holding the ends of optical fibers in end to end relationship includes a pair of sections having mating planar surfaces in engagement. One of the surfaces has an axially aligned groove facing the other surface to form an opening. The fiber receiving member comprises an elastomeric material of sufficient resilience to permit the opening to expandably receive optical fibers dimensioned larger than the opening. A sleeve is mounted about the receiving member for holding the sections in assembled relationship.

  • Patent number: 4222622
Abstract: A connector for making electrical contact between an external circuit and a planar substrate of the type having opposing faces with the sides having conductive portions thereon includes an insulating housing having an interior area for receiving the substrate. Means are provided for resiliently supporting the substrate on one face thereof. A plurality of contacts are fixedly mounted within the interior area with each contact including a projecting portion adapted to be resiliently biased over the other face of the substrate. The contacts hold the substrate against the resilient supporting means and each contact further includes a portion for contacting conductive portions on the marginal edge portions of the substrate.

Inventors: Wendell L. Griffin, John E. Benasutti
  • Patent number: 4166667
Abstract: A connector for a circuit board includes a mounting member having a plurality of apertures therein. The electrical contacts each have a flat contact portion at one end, an arcuate portion at the other end, and an intermediate portion having an expanded section positioned within respective apertures for securing the contact to the mounting member.

  • Patent number: 4116516
Abstract: A connector for a printed wiring board wherein a portion of a multiple layered cable extends into the connector housing and comprises a plurality of stepped layers each of which comprises a plurality of contacts. The end of the printed wiring board which is inserted into such connector also comprises a plurality of stepped layers each of which comprises a plurality of contacts. The stepped layers and rows of contacts of the connector mate with the stepped layers and rows of contacts of the printed wiring board to effect an electrical interface between the connector and board.
