  • Patent number: 7848744
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for alerting a calling or message sending party as to whether a desired receiving wireless electronic communication device is off or out of range for sending and receiving transmissions. When a call is placed to a wireless telephone or when a message or page is placed to a wireless communication device such as a pager, text messaging device, or personal digital assistant, the operational status of the receiving wireless telephone or other wireless communication device is checked by the wireless network in which the wireless device operates. A message or call is returned to the calling party or sender to alert the calling party or sender if the desired receiving device is off or out of range so that the calling party or message sending party may choose an alternate means of communicating with the desired receiving party.

  • Patent number: 6999566
Abstract: A method and system are provided for enabling a sender of a voicemail message to delete that message before it is heard by the intended recipient and to be notified when a pending message is heard by the intended recipient. A voicemail system associated with a recipient receives and stores a voicemail message and, in response thereto, transmits a status message to a voicemail system associated with the sender. Upon user request, a server computer queries the voicemail system associated with the sender for status of a voicemail message, and if still pending, transmits a deletion request to the voicemail system associated with the sender. The deletion request is then sent from the voicemail system associated with the sender to the voicemail system associated with the recipient, which then deletes the message.

  • Patent number: 6785368
Abstract: An on-demand caller ID service is disclosed. A customer dials an access code to retrieve calls made to his telephone number. An automated voicemail response system would repeat the telephone numbers and/or names associated with those telephone numbers that called over a predetermined time period, such as the last 24 hours. The customer is billed a per usage charge for each time he accesses the service. The customer may also subscribe to the service. Customers that are not subscribers of caller ID may utilize this service if they are seeking to track down an incoming call that may have been missed during the day. Also, customers who are away from their telephone line may remotely check who has called them by accessing the service.
