    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a biocontrol agent Plectosporium tabacinum and methods for the biocontrol of weeds using the biocontrol agent. Preferably the weeds are cleavers (Galium aparine L and Galium spurium L.), and the biocontrol agent is Plectosporium tabacinum CL98-103 (ATCC deposit PTA-3463). The biocontrol agent is effective against herbicide-resistant and herbicide-susceptible cleavers, and it may be used in conjunction with other herbicides.
